I bought Rome as soon as it came out, played it some, realised the game sucked and went back to EUIII. I come to this side from time to time to check out if there is a new patch, and what's going on with the game. I figure that until an expansion comes out I won't bother with it, and will only buy the expansion if people on this forum say that it is exceptional and if it is cheap.

However, other than the occasional "this game is boring/what does Rome need/download my mod it makes the game fun... no, it really does" thread there is not much going on in this forum, posting seem slow, and there is no buzz or excitement about the game. Which got me wondering if EU: Rome will even get an expansion or will PI just patch it up a little, cut its losses, and move on. With no published sales figures it is impossible to know how much of a flop this title was. If it was as bad as it sometimes seems to me it doesn't really make sense to invest in this game. Granted Victoria got an excellent expansion, despite (what I heard) poor sales. I would love for my favourite era to get the treatment EUIII got with NA and IN, but I think it might not happen. What do you guys think?

What makes the developers not care about their newly released game. After all they are expecting it to make dividends for thier next game (*crosses fingers*) Victoria 2.

I do expect an expansion.

Hopefully they're too busy making Vicky 2. ;)

However, I would like an Alexander expansion (That expands the map! ) Or have an earlier date, so I can play as the King of Rome, or shout 'THIS IS SPARTA!' When Persia invades Greece!

I hope they do. I would like them to stick a couple of hundred more years after the official end time maybe go up to just before the empire was split between east and west that would be great.

Does anyone know if this game is selling well or not? The reviews were pretty good and it even had a reasonably good review in a major UK computer mag.

I will say the same to you.

Dagda stated, "It seems even the Devs don't even care about it anymore. How sad." I responded by asking him what information he had that indicated the developers don't care any longer--since it's pretty clear he hasn't got any.

In context, your response to me, quoted above, makes no sense whatsoever.

No problem. Thank you for your courtesy. :)

I agree, Paradox is likely to want to get value out of this. They are not going to write off the title at this point, but will attempt to provide more content as well as tweaking. My concern is that the content will come at an additional cost, which I hope will not prove the case. But I know no more than anybody else who is outside the development team, so I can only suggest: wait, and watch. And hope for the best. After all, these are intelligent, committed developers--not a bunch of amateurs.

They should realease an expansion pack, that changes Rome completly on a scale of Vicky! With more things to do then is needed!

I would love to see an earlier starting date, Rome vs. Etruscans or even the Peloponnesian Wars (I am pretty sure they will not go that far back). I just don't know if it will happen if sales are poor, and fans (including myself) are unhappy with the vanilla game and might not want to pay for an expansion.

Yep, dito. Currently, I'm too displeased with PIs performance with EU:R, that I did not buy they EU:IN. If EU:R is not fixed, I'm sure I will never buy an expansion, to me that would be a rip off, especially since I already spent $50 for a game that doesn't actually work the way it should.

 Easily, easily IN is more then worth it. Don't let Rome play down IN. If in any way atall you got even a smile from EUIII, you need IN. Makes it some 20 times better.

I hope they make an expansion, preferably backward in time rather than forward (if it had to be one or the other). I liked Rome from the very beginning, but I already feel like I've done all I can do with it. A game like this should have kept me preoccupied for more than a couple months.

But do you need NA to install IN?
I'd say IN is well worth the combined price of both it and NA.

I don't really care how expansion affects Romes timeline. It's problems lay in game mechanics, and I dare to say that it's too flawed to fix with simple patches. So DV kind of expansion that dosen't affect timeline, but improves game mechanic a lot would also be welcome in my books.

I agree that EUIII with NA and IN is a fantastic game, and that the expansions are worth it. And, I also agree about the game mechanics in Rome need great improvement, and not so much the timeline, but if it went that way I certainly wouldn't mind. I am baffled how the developers didn't make it better, or maybe if it was intentional so that they can make money on expansions. They could just adapt the features that came out in NA and IN to this game and have a couple of expansions with a minimal amount of work. Will people buy it is a whole another question.
