Talking about bike rentals, that´s not always the case. In Germany the national train companies runs bike rental services, in cooperation with local mass transport companies.
That's why I wrote 'usually'.

Bike can solve short distance transportation. No one will use bike to go to work, if his company is maybe 10+km away from his home, even if he wants to save money, because there also have time costsI like the idea of the bike sharing services and bike lanes. It could be an easy way to increase the catchment area. On the other hand, it would be unfortunate for me if the cims would use bikes all the way to their destination instead of paying for transportation. So I'm not sure if I would build it if I had the option.
CiM 2 Shanghai DLC:
I'm going to save our animator from a burnout and say at this point that we will not be adding bikes to Cities in Motion 2. Even if we did have helicopters in CIM1, but they were kind of funny right? At least business people loved those. I hope they will settle for a metro in CIM2![]()
Not for commuter traffic really (at least not yet or the Transrapid model). The Maglev in use in Shanghai was designed for intercity traffic, a transport network based on it should be used in the same way as Shinkansen High Speed Rail, to tie together big cities 100km or more appart and replace short distance airplanes.Well i've been there, i'd say the maglev is quite fast...
Though that is not realy a viable tranport network on its own.
Well you shouldn't hate non-polluting transport users ! Not all cyclists ignore traffic rules.I can't see how it would fit into the game alongside the other transportation methods, it isn't really the sort of thing a private transit company would run. Besides, as a car driver I hate cyclists, most of them have no road sense whatsoever!
But its too expensive...
And most of that cost is to build well over half the way tunnel (including 100km deep underground tunnels 40m below Tokyo/Nagoya/Osaka)...In Japan they are going to build a 500 kph maglev shinkansen line around 2030 and the cost is enormous, around $10bn.
In China, it is also to be called non motor carriageway or non motorized vehicle laneTo be Honest, bike lanes in many cities are called Pavements![]()
