I think this can be added as a new feature, and make the game more interesting and realistic

Bike is one of the transportation, many people use bikes go out.

Add non-motor vehicle can make the traffic more complicated, and the game will be more interesting.

With more and more cities introducing bicycle sharing services maybe this kind of transportation may at some point in the future be interesting for CiM as well. It would be an interesting challenge to work out an efficient and environment-friendly network of bicycle sharing points, stock them and try to compete with other forms of transportation or even use synergies between the two.

Woah, that's a little too far! But yes, I went to Bucharest and rented a bicycle, with the accomplice of some bicycle lanes of course :D

I like the idea, monsterfurby, the city I live in (Ljubljana) has one of them bike sharing thingies, it would add to the realism, but going by this logic CiM would probably first need to cover taxis. :)

I can't see how it would fit into the game alongside the other transportation methods, it isn't really the sort of thing a private transit company would run. Besides, as a car driver I hate cyclists, most of them have no road sense whatsoever!

How is that suggestion too far? It's innovative and doesn't sound complicated at all. We can't keep debunking ideas just because they "sound too complicated" or "too far". If it adds to the gameplay, if it adds to the stuff you can do in the game, if it adds more depth/complication, then I say go for it.

Its complex because is similar to taxis (or cabs), since they both don't have fixed routes. In that way a DLC "taxis+bikes" would be a nice addition, running randomly through the city, and generating income and expenses.

The thing is, that usually such services are run either by the authorities, or by companies different from the public transport company. Although the authorities are often trying to integrate public transport and bike rental, taxis are always a competition to buses, trams, etc.

But they are allowed to use bus lanes and if there are too many taxis they jam them... :p

But in all seriousness, as CO said themselves, they're a small studio and have to set priorities. I don't think that taxis/bikes will add much to the game experience compared to other things which need a similar effort to code and maybe add more to the game.

Because I want more building types, and a bus station, and more detailed vehicles, instead of something that isn't as much of a necessity to most cities, that's why.

Bikes, yes, bike lanes, yes, but not having them as one of our public transport options. Maybe if they were a competitor to our network, like cars, then yes.

Talking about bike rentals, that´s not always the case. In Germany the national train companies runs bike rental services, in cooperation with local mass transport companies.
