I'd like to play on a map the size of a real galaxy. With real space ships and real aliens. I really, really would.

Me too. I'll build a science ship and send it off... then die of old age before it gets to its destinationI'd like to play on a map the size of a real galaxy. With real space ships and real aliens. I really, really would.

That's to ensure you don't start running up against the 4GB max for the entire system which can happen when using a 32 Bit OS. A single 32 bit application can use up to 3GB of Ram but if you get to that amount that only leave 1GB for everything else which can effect performance.Well, the recommended specs include "OS: Windows 7 x64 or newer"...
For what do you need 64 GB RAM?At least for games it's pointless, at some time there is simply no more data you can write into the RAM reasonably... The highest demand I know is something like 8 GB.
Wait, seriously? That's a major disappointment.
I know Podcat did a LAA version of the exe with some of his own optimizations for HOI3 and mods, so it's possible that they will have an official LAA "slightly-better-than-32bit-but-not-quite-64bit" version that runs depending on your operating system. Similar to how KSP does its 32bit/64bit versions.Large Address Aware allows 32-bit .exes to run with 4 GB of RAM as opposed to the normal 2. It works wonders in Sins of a Solar Empire and will work well here hopefully.

Last I heard they were testing how far they could go in terms of performance, but don't you think 1000 stars are enough?
is the stream running 1000 star galaxy map?
Well when they decide to put together a new Clauswitz and overhaul Stellaris (which should be easier than most games considering its one in-house engine to another), I'd be willing to pay the price of an EU4 expansion pack for it, provided they slap on a few new features or portraits.Man here's hoping.
I'm really scared that Paradox may have gambled with Stellaris by using the Clausewitz. So far, other games on the same engine were graphically really not demanding at all and now we have a game with a bunch of 3D models, battles with plenty of particles and effects and many, many 3D ships buzzing around.Well when they decide to put together a new Clauswitz and overhaul Stellaris (which should be easier than most games considering its one in-house engine to another), I'd be willing to pay the price of an EU4 expansion pack for it, provided they slap on a few new features or portraits.
No idea what they are running the game on, but i imagine it to be a powerful rig seeing that its the computer they use for showing off their livestreams.Do we know the specs of the system they ran the stream on? I really hope they step their game up with optimization, because I assume it's quite the challenge to make everything run smoothly on 2GB of ram.
Performance and the game engine care. This isn't an issue of just not wanting more stars. It's a performance limitation.
Nooo, it's not, we have about 900 billion star game now(not mentioning name), so it's not impossible to do bigger, as we all know bigger is better always .Last I heard they were testing how far they could go in terms of performance, but don't you think 1000 stars are enough?
