It's hardly an unusual viewpoint. I make it a point of not buying digital games too.

Seriously though, kids in America need to learn Geography and thanks to Victoria and HoI2 I can point out Louisiana, Iraq, Afghanistan, and Italy(It looks like a boot![I can see Russia from my house?])!

Assuming it runs well on my computer I'm buying it, and just like Victoria I'll spread the word about it, depending on how historically enthralling it is. This might be a stupid question: Has Paradox ever done advertising for any of their games?

I can picture going on MySpace and at the right of the window, "Victoria 2, the industrial revolution IN YOUR HANDS! Order off GamersGate today." Or some such. Would be cool.

If I become President, Victoria and HoI2 will be mandatory to play for at least 20 hours on each game. Muahahaha!

Nice. I don't remember seeing anything here in California. I do think I seen a boxed copy of one of their games at a game store though and was like Neat-o!

Idk how you would target people like us, I say utilize the interwebz, pretty much anyone who has the words "strategy", "game" or "tactics" on their myspace is a good target. I haven't personally checked their cost for advertisements though.

I would love a Victoria and Bismarck figurine model, preferably with both properly plump.

Though I wouldn't think Paradox will go out of its way to make a limited addition for Vicky 2.

I have the EU3 collectors edition, and the three digital download expansions. It was annoying to go EU 3 box hunting when I got a new computer (and a new OS), and comparatively easy to download the expansions. I think that is the last time I bought a boxed game from Paradox, digital is just so much easier.

Wish I could d/l the game from gamersgate, tbh. Perhaps if they have an even more complete edition I'll get that on sale some day.

Besides, I have enough stuff, I don't need any more boxes cluttering up my place.

As for the OPs question, I think there will be a boxed copy, but only because I have seen box art.

There is "box-art" even for the download-only expansions. It's called marketing You cannot infer from the availability of a box-art to the availability of a box.

I only say this since i actually bought the first Victoria three times. Once after i lost my first copy and again after mother nature took the second one from me. However i still believe i got my money's worth!!!

They did that with the original release of EU3 Complete and said they were hoping to do it for all future games. Unfortunately it seems like Paradox games published by other companies in localised versions don't get that bonus. I don't recall if the HoI3 boxed copy had it.

Well, sitting in a small village in the middle of Germany does not mean that you have a fast internet access. A download of AoD would have taken two days with my connection here. This is why I prefer boxed versions of my games.

And: Yes, we have some sort of toilet system: Its the dungheap outside! My neighbour even has an outhouse!

Compared to what? I saw Tropico 3 at Target yesterday for $39.95, while I can download it from GG for $29.95. Seems like a deal to me. Granted not all the games get that kind of deal, but download prices are very competitive on GG from what I've seen.
