I dont know if there's any point in buing DLC for this game if performance is so bad I cant enjoy late game. I never finished even 1 game on map bigger then medium because of lags.
Eh, it's not THAT good, but it's a definite improvement over vanilla.Opt into the Beta, it's buttery smooth all game long, even lategame with a massive empire, 20 planets and a fleet over 1100. It is so good now ;D
No, the slowdown by the mid 2300's is normal. It's just that the stuttering in the early game has been ironed out a bit (though still there). My performance is just as bad even with the patch. Massive slowdowns around 2360 and its the same with all my friends?
Are we playing the same version or have they added more changes in the last 24 hours?
People are disagreeing with what happens on my system? Weird I haven't seen you guys here Just joking. To clarify further, I have a Ryzen 2700X and as I said, performance is ok until late game. Then I get these long lockups. Haven't seen anyone else mention those specific events. Anyone gets those? Often at the end/start of a new year.
I see lots of people saying "they're working on it" but not many people asking how in gods name this ever made it past QA to begin with?
It's easy to say "don't worry it'll be fixed soon" but it's almost 2 weeks post release and even after two patches the game is still unplayable and will probably remain that way until at least after the Christmas holidays. That's a ridiculous amount of time I've been unable to use something I paid good money for. If this was any other product we'd have seen mass returns by now. And what happens during the next patch? Is the cycle of poor performance going to repeat all over again, we keep telling them the core game is in desperate need of optimization and multi-threading and patch after patch we see performance issues that get fixed on our dime. Are you telling me a company that turns over $90 million a year can't afford to hire a few people who know how to deal with multi-threading, so they can finally put these issues to bed?
This isn't good enough, I refuse to accept shoddy products from companies like EA, Bethesda and Activision, so I certainly won't accept it from Paradox just because they're a smaller company.
Which beta are you referring to? 2.2.0 Le Guin version? Or the stellaris_test - testing and crossplay branch?
It's not a multithreading issue. The problem is entirely bad algorithms. That's unfortunate, and definitely shows they could use some QA changes. Namely to test for more cases, though I can see that issue getting through.
Nor is it a case where throwing money at the problem will necessarily see a fix. Just not how the industry works. It's a fundamental issue with fixing the process more than anything.
