Will the next update fix the performance issues?

I can't get through 1850 without my game lagging and slowing, and I use a mod to try and fix this but nothing helps.

I'm sure they know about the speed issues and will be spending a significant amount of time looking at how to improve.

My guess is that the problem is large enough and tricky enough that there will be some changes each patch for the next year.

I also suspect if you are using a mod to improve the AI's factory building (or anything else that creates more pops like extra culture groups or cultural diversity in provinces) then that may not be factored into their view on how slow the game is. Are you using anything like that?

We lack context in order to help but here are a few things you can look at:

• Does you computer meets the game requirements? The minimal requirements seem to be a bit too generous and might not be enough for a good experience.
• Are you using any calculations heavy mods? AI ones especially can add a lot of overhead for every tick.
• Are your drivers are up-to-date? Out-of-date drivers can cause a myriad of issues including slow down.
• Do you have any other program using an ungodly amount of resources (other than the game of course)?
• Are you experiencing better performance using 1.06 compared to 1.1? There seem to have been a performance regression introduced by 1.1.
• Using the task manager, ressource monitor or htop, what is the ressource being used at 100% or very close to it? This would indicate that you have a bottleneck which would explain why the game is slowing down.

1. A few months ago, I asked a question regarding my issues with playing the game. A helpful mod here helped me out and in doing so I shared my SR to which he said they were compatible with the game.

2. I used the "Save your CPU, not your GPU" mod, which the workshop says it uses 0.07MB of data. The purpose of the mod is to fix my performance without removing the details I like seeing like sprawling cities and roads.

3. From the first question, the mod requested the same and my drivers are up to date.

4. The only programs that are open during the game is Chrome, File Explorer and Steam.

5. Yeah, since 1.1 I had issues. I had my issues thinking it was because I wasn't on Win11, then I found out my files were split between two main drives which caused performance issues because my saves were in my D drive and the game was in my C drive.

From what I can see in the thread about your crashinng issue, no such statement is ever made. Your system barely meets the minimum requirements (if we choose the lowest performing option for gpu).

Since you only have 8 GB of ram your game will most likely be using all that is available. Closing Chrome seems like a must in your case since it probably eats up 10%-50% (depending on the number of tabs you have open and what they do) of your memory that isn't used by windows itself. Your laptop will most likely never be able to run Vic 3 comfortably. It simply isn't made for playing games. It has a weak processor, no dedicated gpu and the bare minimum of RAM a modern computer should have to function well for doing basic operations. My gaming laptop from 2017 is better suited for playing games than yours, and it was nowhere near a high budget one back then.

One correction to my post above. It looks like your laptop does have a dedicated graphics card (geforce mx330), but it may be considered slightly worse than the iris xe. It should however have some dedicated memory, and forcing the game to use the mx 330 instead of iris xe could therefore free up some resources for the game to use.

Switching the gpu used may make the game run worse, but then yoy can just switch back.
