Research teams, as long as they aint down horribly wrong, should be loads of fun and a good idea. this would allow the democracies to have more teams or better teams in most areas but germany will have their teams with excellent rocket skill or such

I do not see history supporting this claim. Germanys research was not especially inefficient compared to England or USA. Well....Hitler did mess with jetfighters, but generally speaking...:)

Although democracies do have benefits (as was evident during cold war), it is difficult see the effects of "non-creative" society in time span of 12 years. It takes at least one geration to take effect and Germany was not even nearly as rigid as Soviet Union (which had started purging already in 1917).

Although some scientist chose to leave certain countries, some decided to return to countries from where their families had orginated (for example Volkdeutsch).

The fact that most german scientist were forced to work for the opposing factions after the war IMHO speaks volumes of the quality of german scientist. American/Russian space programs are proof of this.

how does this work? I say "I want better tanks" so I click on "research tanks" or move a slider towards "tanks" or assign teams to the "tanks" research path or what?

I'm all for anything that reduces levls of micromangement and absrtacts as much as possiable.

...you must be one of the guys who really loved MOO3...

...really hope that these avoid micro at all costs - resulting in avoid fun at all costs never will happen to HOI2 !

btw. micro-management at the right points is a very good way to involve the player in what happens in the game...

...and some influence on unit-design will definelty give the player some understanding for different strategies based on different unit-design...

...and the design / R&D problems most armies had during WWII (tank-guns not powerfull enough to penetrate enemy armour, weak tanks in general,...)

I wonder how many teams a country will have? Or if you can get more of them?
And if I got only team and I put it to work on, for example "Infantry Weapons", i hope
that the other fields progress as well, albeit much more slowly.

Can scientists defect, does loyalty have an impact on their efficiency, and can a malcontent leak information to another country?

We haven't heard much about intelligence yet come to think of it.

How could those scientists defect when there's bunch of bodyguards guaranteeing their "safety" 24/7. :D Okay seriously they should have small chance to defect but the chance should be lowered once the war starts. Admit it! You love it when you get tech stolen/leaked from the enemy but you hate it when your tech is stolen. Luckily, AFAIK, in HOI I did'nt see my tech leaking. ;)
I can allready imagine that the research team system will be, if not copied, at least adapted from vicky.

I have just returned from the future (January, 2005) and I tell you that time machines ARE in HOI2, but you can't confirm it here and now due to the fact that it runs on DriectX 10.0.

Really?

But actually Westwood had some nice actors in that game. That Stalin guy, was A-W-E-S-O-M-E... The rest of them... Well naah... But it hard to remember since the last time I played that game was when I was twelve or so...

Anyone remember that poisoned tea scene?... "Excellent tea Nadja!"... *Chokes*... Random gibberish ...

But the actors doing the Generals weren`t that nice. But the guy doing Stalin... Now that was something...

The videos on the Soviet side were just so much better, oddly enough in all Westwood games the bad guys have the better videos... Maybe it is subliminal advertising... Or a plan to take over the WORLD!!!
