It's now going on for 10 years. I, poor native, fought against Portugal, Castille and England alltogether (not sure how it is even possible, they should have gotten the distant penalty as I own nothing in Europe...). I gave a province to Castille as I was loosing, then I began reconquering provinces. As England occupied nothing, they asked me to conceed defeat. Now, 10 years after the begining of the war, Portugal has about 75% warscore (lost battles; it has been at around 90% at worst), but only occupies 2 inland provinces, that I might succeed to claim back. While they are definately stronger than I (need to westernize), I'm way too big for them to successfully siege a significant part of my country with their limited armies.

I thought I would post a screen, but I know not where it is located. Wathever, their will for fight is low (-1), their own military strenght is -4, but they got +30 for relative strenght of alliances... Not sure why; perhaps colonies that never showed up, or a remnant of Castille and England in its calculation.

When my wars drag for too long, I end up getting a monthly war exhaustion going on... Will it ever hit them? This, I believe, would be the only thing that could stop that madness; while they get some WE from attri, it goes down monthly; not sure why, perhaps some AI bonus. Since the begining, they still not sent any peace offer, nor would they accept any. I begin to dispair of this situation.

The AI gets the call for peace monthly WE penalty as well, but keep in mind that they have to hold the wargoal in addition to having high war score.

It sounds like you are still pagan, which means Portugal is probably trying to annex you in one go. Sounds like you're in a tough spot, but eventually the length of war modifier might rescue you.

Or you could try offering them a treasure fleet of gold. I've never seen the AI bring it up by hitting suggest demands, but they'll often accept gold anyway.

I had a similar issue as a native nation against the european powers (also Portugal, Britain and Spain). They could only get 99% war score unless they occupied everything, but provinces were revolting back to my control as fast as they captured them. They refused any peace deal, including vast amounts of gold (tens of thousands) until they got involved into a war with a war against France. Then they basically gave up for about 100 gold. In total the war lasted nearly 50 years, although it only took the first 5 years for them to wipe out my ability to fight back.

Now, I'm 15 years in the war, and war enthusiasm is still -1 :(

Surely, the would gladly annex me in one go, but I just think all hell would break loose on them before they could even core the provinces ;)

The war goal is to show superiority, which ticks since the begining (stupid vassal AI!). Perhaps this is why they don't get the monthly WE? Well, actually, they got involved in another war, but it is now finished, while I'm still fighting the Portugese. By now, I have taken back all my provinces, but it drains my military MP because of all the sieges, so it keeps delaying westernization. I went back to routine though, building and colonizing since they do not disturb my economy anymore.

I would gladly give them load of gold, but since they refused any decent option early in, all my treasury went in mercs... Paid of actually, I did not thought I would get rid of GB + Castille just for a single province while there were 100k men in my lands... But still, treasury is nearly empty, and the Portugese, hard-nosed while warscore stagnates for few years.

Any tips?

I'll try to continue keeping them on check, but they still want more than 50 warscore to agree to a peace term. At best, I can rationnally give them 15 from what they want (cancel alliance with Inca + a little bribe). Perhaps 20 with a good share of loans.

Ok, so, I got bored, took 25 loans and gave them 2 provinces away. I'm not quite sure wether or not I should go for westernization with that much loans to pay back, but that's another matter.
