So my primary heir died early, leaving his grandchildren next in line for the throne. A 14 year old girl, and 4 year old boy.

The 14 year old has the Strong trait, and has been educated VERY well, with lots of good traits and stats.

Nothing is wrong with the 4 year old...other than the fact that he's 4 and hasn't grown stats yet and will be in regency for another 12 years.

Before I could knock off the 4 year old, my ruler died and I took over as him. I'm trying desperately to get myself killed so I can take over as his sister and only suffer 2 years of regency and emerge with awesome stats.

I tried making someone who hates me my spymaster and giving him court jester so he dropped to -100 to me. While he did take over as my regent... he hasn't tried to kill me like I want him to.

How can I encourage people to murder my 4 year old ruler so I can take the throne as his sister?

Try to assassinate some other powerful ruler. They dont take too kindly to that sort of stuff and try to kill you back.

Man up man.
There's no point to CK2 if it's all flowers and sunshine. The rough times are fun too, and I don't see anything negative in waiting out a 12-year regency in a stable realm. Just two days (well, 1550 years in-game) ago I got through a 9-year regency to get a decently educated, ludicrously handsome ruler. I had ELECTIVE, and I chose him over his ADULT sister because she was ugly and a woman (roleplaying, you should do it).

Gotta admit, the moment i achieve stable organised realm, where i dont have to worry about anything other than blobbing in every direction, is when i start a new campaign. ;D

Imo try to get through the regency, if you still insist, fire ur spy-master or get a rly bad one and try assassinating some ruler with high intrigue, they are likely to strike back.

Why not just have no spymaster?
I thought you can't survive assassination attempts without a spymaster.

And if you're going to be so anti-reality about it, OP, why don't you just use the "kill_<character ID>" cheat?

Play it out; avoid exploits and gamey choices intended to always give you the best ruler. Bad guys can be incredibly fun to play and you'll definitely get more from CK II if you set yourself roleplay challenges with a broad range of characters. Winning can get tedious.

Regency is not bad per se. It's bad when you don't have your house in order, vassals having - modifiers because you hold vassals/land they want being the major kicker. For your situation, try bribing the most powerful vassals with gold/land. Also, can anyone confirm that after a regency of this length, you will not have the "short reign" - modifier when you officially take over?

to be fair, the thing about blobbing even in easy mode, is eventually, however many generations down the line it is, some vassal or foreign ruler will help to bring your entire empire crashing down and you'll have to start again. But yeah I don't agree with killing off an underage heir just for the sake of an easy life.

I cant believe what i'm hearing! People who don't believe in survival of the fittest? The child is four years old and at this point his regent despises the little tyrant. Make his home a death trap, leave 5th floor windows open, saw the legs off a few chairs, or leave electrical outlets uncovered <if they had such a thing>. A child in that situation would never be safe. The role play excuse is what gets me the most though, especially since most AI characters don't even do it right. What with AI calling you all kinds of horrible names when they have 100+ relationship, or when your spymaster reveals he just thwarted his own plot to kill you, thank god you're allright! I say it's better role play to put such a young, defenseless child in constant peril. If he's fit to rule he'll survive, if not.. well wheel in the next one

but i do gotta admit that i prune the family tree every now and again. Regency issues aside i tend to have ten year goals which sometimes means that my character want's something to get done in ten years time regardless of whether he's around to see it or not. then again i do alot of Abyssinia playthroughs and if i don't carefully manage my heirs i'll fall to all kinds of nasty horrible things.. and my king knows it too!

I have a personal house rule of no kinslaying, so sometimes I feel the same way as the OP.

Take the example of my most recent ruler, a genius queen. She had two Midas Touched sons, the first son was pretty well trained, and also ambitious, and was all around quite decent, well worth playing despite having a harelip. The second son, however, was a genius - not just a genius, but seriously the most talented person in the whole empire. I even beat the Ambitiousness out of him, knowing how much trouble he would cause my fairly decently-abled first son.

So one day, it had to happen, my genius queen died. And then I realised that somehow, my first son had picked up Craven and Great Pox by himself - he didn't have those when I gave him a county and got him married to a good wife after he nagged me about it! And my second son somehow picked up Ambitious by himself despite being unlanded and unmarried. Instantly all hell broke loose - everyone worth their salt abandoned my court, Independence faction swelled, and someone started a war to put the seriously much more talented younger son on the throne. I considered caving in to their demands, but I realised that it didn't actually let me play as him, just handed him a county and the Emperor title. Worst of all, I had finally put down the pretender revolt and discouraged the independence faction, when my king died of syphilis. After having squeezed a (0-year old) son out of his wife, despite his drastically reduced fertility.

Crap. All this could have been avoided if I could have immediately commited suicide as the elder son. Or the little kid. Killing your own self isn't kinslaying, is it? You can't be your own kin ...

whoever said i was being a heroic king? it's more that i like to have a "Trial by fire" period for the heirs of my realm. If they are lucky enough to survive then they are lucky enough to be the imbecile king that they so desperately want to be. Although imbeciles do have a tendency to not see the crown ever getting to grace their sloped and over extended brows. Now if they ever implemented stability in ck2 (which i believe they should) then these tactics would prolly make my realms doubly unsafe and more entertaining

I'm sure a 4 year old wants to be alive.
Appoint as chancellors a combination of most talented, and most loved by your regent.
And yes, they should add stability. That would be awesome.

In all honesty, I want this for two reasons.

1. I'm in the last 50 years of my game. i'm powerful enough to survive 12 years of regency, I just don't want to spend the last 50 years of my empire's life grinding against revolts.
2. The Daughter is named Tiborg... after the previous epically statted queen several generations back. I wouldn't mind finishing my game off with her leading the realm
