Will Skylines be #1 seller at Steam?

A pc that exceeds the minimum specs is dirt cheap these days. My mainstream PC is 4 years old and I'm on par with the recommended specs.

It's not about the money or age of the computer. It's how requirements are ranked amongst other games. If I can play any game I want besides C:SL and a few others with no problem, why is it not right to say C:SL has a bit steep requirements.

And another thing. Having high requrements does not translate into taking Pc gaming seriously. Where did you get that idea. I could write you a program that requires 8 core CPU to run calculations and a beasty GPU just because I don't have a single clue about optimisation.
Will my program take "PC gaming seriously" as a result? No it won't. High requirements =/= quality.

Well it was at the top of the sim list on steam when I broke down and finally preordered minutes ago.

Just hit #1 at that, was #2 an hour ago. I think Steam updates the top sellers list every hour as I've seen it update a lot during the holiday sales.

After reading around the internet I think the Steam best sellers list is based on the last X amount of total units sold or total revenue, this is why it bounces around more during sales.

The order in the list may be based on revenue, I'm not sure. There is a weekly top sellers feed by revenue though, so it will be interesting to see what the numbers are for the week at this Sunday when it updates.

I saw it at #2 last night at 11:30 CST, however if it has made it #1 I am not surprised! CO looks like they have done, what many have considered to be a worthy title Can't wait for my Tuesday to come. Only 5 days (less) now!

I would suspect it's units sold rather than how much for.

Not sure about Steam, but it's sure to be a bestseller at GMG with their big discounts. Steam really needs to jump on that discount train too!

I picked it up from GMG because of the discount, not that the game wasn't worth the original price, it's certainly not "EA" rip off prices.

I am 100% OK paying full price for this game. Resources they have spent are easily worth the $40 CDN I have spent on it.

Wow, #1 on Steam is just awesome. All the streamers on Twitch and the Let's Play videos are really convincing people to buy. When I checked Twitch yesterday at one point almost 50,000 people were watching streams of the game. And the streamers are not pulling punches about what they like and dislike about CS. I hope the reviews are reasonably good for it and a whole new fanbase gets hooked on the genre thanks to Skylines.

Yeah, I've seen posts on Sims forums that are basically "wow, I've never played a city builder, but Cities Skylines looks GORGEOUS and a ton of fun to play. I think I want to get that."
