Will Poland ever cede Danzig?

I hope that there's a chance for it. Then Germany could go for Luxembourg, Lorraine, Belgium, the Netherlands, etc. When I gave Germany Danzig in HOI3, war erupted between the axis and allies anyways a couple of months later and I ended up getting totally annexed by the USSR.

When Germany invaded the USSR later, they ended up killing most of the Soviet troops in Poland and then spreaded out from there, although the Baltic states and Moldova only ended up getting annexed by the Soviets after the Bitter Peace event.

Basically what the title asks. Do you think AI Poland will ever agree to cede Danzig. If they do what do you imagine the next step for Germany is. Declare war on Poland anyway? Live happy under the unified German lands?

i hope it does accept, for the simple reason, it has never accepted in any game of HOI i have ever played, never. if you do the friendly national focus, they should make sure it is 5% chance or something, after all it is supposed to be a sandbox game to some extent

Nope. Because of the Danish King's insistence on a plebescite to determine the new borders, Denmark was the only country to gain land from Germany after WW1 and not lose it during the occupation in WW2.

I've only ever had that happen once and that was in Hearts of Iron II. But I continue to hope. After all, the only way to find out if they will cede Danzig is to keep demanding Danzig!

Nope. It would still lead to a war between Germany and the SU At least this is very likely. With the allies, this is another question, because their legitimation for the war was the war with Poland.

You can still legitimize a war while handing a country over to a foreign power on a silver platter. I'm not sure why you think these two things are mutually exclusive. It's a staple of realpolitik.

If the UK fails to have a military might to rival Germany and IF Italy & the USSR have given the diplomatic green light before Ribbentrop-Molotov than yes Poland would be inclined to cede a tiny sliver of sand of the Danzing corridor. However given the Polish military and political ego it's unlikely they would go without a fight.

they took 8 of 10 points. AH thought they'd balk on all 10 because each demand was ridiculous and extreme. and because AH is like your average PDS game player- war before actual diplomacy

The ultimatum itself was designed to be rejected. Serbia accepted on all grounds barring allowing A-H to send police to Serbia, which wasn't even the worst point. Wilhelm noted their acceptance eliminated any reason for war

IIRC, the chance for this to happen in HOI3 was very small (1%?). I never had it happen playing as Germany but have seen it happen playing as someobody else. To be honest, if it had happened to me playing as Germany I probably would have invaded anyway. All dressed up and no place to go kind of thing.

If Poland had agreed I am sure in a matter of time Hitler would have simply made another demand else where until the UK/France finally stood up to him. The treaty with Russia displays the fact he had no issue making a temporary alliance if he thought it served his purpose.

Yup. He said Sudetland would be his final demand, got it, then he invaded the rest of the country, and then he said Danzig would be his final demand. Had he got Danzig, he would probably have kept invading and demanding land until he felt ready to claim Alsace-Lorraine.

The national focus for Germany is 'Danzig vs Slovakia'. So it's easy... Poland gives Danzig to Germany. But Poland can annex Slovakia. So insteed of an independ Slovakia it will be part of Poland.

Right below that one buddy the next focus in that tree is Befriend Poland.

Well, after Munich, Hitler didn't stop demanding territory, so.... I would suspect they'd be coming back to the well for more. Remember, the Nazis ultimately wanted to expand into Russia to create space to grow their new nation.
