Will Paradox ship reviewer copies early?

Has there been any word on if Paradox will ship out reviewer copies early? I believe Arumba had a let's play going on youtube of Stellaris a few days before the release.

I hope they send him and others a copy. I'm definitely interested in seeing a non dev playing the game(and not havinf to wait a week for 45 minutes of gameplay. Unfortunately, i believe Stellaris LP's only started a day or two before release. I'd be super pumped to go on youtube in the next couple of days and see a Lets Play Hearts of Iron 4 video appear!

Neither Arumba, Quill18 or the other youtubers are reviewers. They are "let's players". I've rarely if any time seen those guys come out with any objective criticisms on the games they play.

I agree with you, but especially with such a niche genre, a generalist reviewer’s opinion is not as valuable to me, as watching Quill18 play the game.
So, even though they’re not reviewers, I want to watch them play.

Well, honestly, I don’t need to see them play to decide whether I like HOI. I need to see them play to placate my need for HOI.

Yup, the value in giving them previewers access to the game is to placate that need among Paradox customers (which I understand), and to give Paradox a lot of positive PR. I have no problems seeing that.

Personally I can enjoy some of those videos until they get a bit into the game, then I'll get eyesores from watching people make obvious mistakes. I got into the tenth lets play stellaris episode from Quill18 before they released it, and then I "ragequit".

But I would find it much more interesting and not to mention valuable as a consumer, if someone like Totalbiscuit made a video of playing through a Paradox title before release. But that is my personal opinion.
