Like many others said I will not buy this game unless I can install, play & patch it without using Steam - but if a Steam/DRM-free version is available I will preorder it as soon as available.
Well, at least in Germany these EULAs are null and void anyway, probably also in other countries.
For one thing, a German court has decided that if you buy software you don't conclude a licensing contract but a buying contract. But an EULA can only be read after you have actually bought the game. So an EULA is a condition which you would have to agree without even being able to read it - a buying contract is finished as soon as the merchandise and the money has been exchanged. Obviously it isn't allowed to include clauses in the buying contract which only one of the two contract partners knows, so EULAs are simply null and void.
Just because they are part of every software it doesn't make them legal.![]()
Many people posting in here seem to have forgotten the poor = late patching of many paradox games on steam. The issues people with steam based games face to play with non-steam users. The issues that arise when it comes down to modding/changing game files.
From now on, the steam version is the standard version that will be the baseline.
That is because of us not supporting the steam version that well. From now on, the steam version is the standard version that will be the baseline.
I missed quite a few games, because I refuse to buy games which need to be "activated" or "licensed" online.
And I wont make an exception for CK2 (or future titles), as thrilled as I am for this game.
It's a pity though, cause I really liked Pdox games.
Will it just need it for patches or for everything? If you have the option of not installing it or having to use if it your ok not getting patches then theres no problem, well no massive problem.
If you need it for the game to install or run, then i know and most of the people i know, cant use your product at all.
But you do have Victoria 2, Sengoku and Eu3, all of who needs to be activated online here..
You need it for install and patches, that has been the word. You can play offline without Steam running at all.
Will you need to install Steam to install or run CK2 at all? Or will you be able to run it without every having to use steam even once?
It would not be a Steam game if you would not need Steam when you install it would it? You need Steam to install and patching as stated several times. Not for running the game.
You cant run the game without installing it. So it needs you to have had steam on your computer to run it. So it needs steam to RUN. So if you cant use Steam you cant run it. That is needing it to run. Not needing Steam to run it is the exact opposite, thats where you can run it without having steam.
What you mean is you can run it without steam running at the moument your running it but you still need to have had steam to run so you cant run it without Steam.

You can install the game move the game in another location uninstall steam and play the game as much as you like. So it doesn't need Steam to run as you try to claim it does. I'm saying exatly what I'm saying you are just twisting what I say so your point would be somehow valid. That it really isn't. This is anyway getting ridiculous so I'm not caring much what you do from now on as your posts just get more sillier on every post you make.
You CANT play without Steam if you cant install without Steam, the funny thing about computer games is you cant play them if they havent been installed. So if you cant use Steam means that you cant Install it how exactly do you play it without Steam?
Point of accuracy: No. they don't. They only have to be registered here if the owner of the game wants to access the subforums (and get the nice little icon). But you do have Victoria 2, Sengoku and Eu3, all of who needs to be activated online here..
How?
Can you install steam without the internet? Previous expriments people i know have made have shown no, you cant install anything with steam if the steam client isnt up to date and isnt on the internet. Thats what the people at EB games tell you, thats what everyone i know who has tried and failed has come across.
If you buy it on a cd, why cant you just install it off the cd and play it, like all other paradox games. Without the internet every becoming involved?
Point of accuracy: No. they don't. They only have to be registered here if the owner of the game wants to access the subforums (and get the nice little icon).
I'm fairly sure I recall a post by an officer of the company to that effect some time before, actually.
