Will HOI4 have the option for a more depth OOB?

You all moan on the CoC and OOB in Hoi III...as player of Gary Grigsby's War in the East and War in the West I can tell you, that Hearts of Iron III the OOB was okay. I like the way, how the Gary Grigsby''s games handLe it and it would be a pity in my opinion, if Hoi IV would not get an expansion that at least would expand the CoC to Corps. It doesn't have to be on map at all.

In WitE the OOB actually matters because it controls the flow of supplies/reinforcements and has support units attached at the corps/army level. HoI3 never supported corps-level support battalions and the supply system was such a mess that I honestly couldn't tell by what rules it worked. The result was an OOB that added very little to the game except immersion, and the amount of work necessary to keep it functional outstripped the benefit from the added immersion by far.

I wouldn't be so quick to say that. It was impossible to remove it from HOI3 because of modding limitations and because the system was integral to the game. Far more can be done in all aspects of modding in HOI4. I think that there could be the possibility of adding layers to the current 1 general/1 army system. I'm far from a modding expert, but I at least hope it can be done.

Generally, if there isn't something like it in the game, it's not possible to mod something in. There are command groups and Generals with different maximum command limits, so it might be possible to add new general levels with a command max of 3 or 9 divisions, but a proper top down chain of command like HoI 3 won't happen. The new system is as integral to the game as the OOB was to HoI 3.

I agree that Paradox should target the game to newbie players. More sales means more and better games in the future.

However they should not ignore the hardcore gamers. Nato counters vs little men animated men, full OOD vs point and click .....should and can be options for the player to chose.

How on Earth would a fully optional OOB even look like and why would anyone use it?

I would use it. There are many people of the HOI fanbase who like the OOB system for the immersion it provides.

Well nothing is stopping you from having a special Corps HQ division for every three regular divisions in the same command group. There, now you have an entirely optional OOB, have fun.

I don't think anyone is suggesting we add more redundant units, that is not the important aspect of the OOB. What it does best is allow you to organize your divisions so you are able to get them to do exactly what you want. Now the HQ units themselves I think could be either automated or just removed (at least on the map). But it is greatly helpful be able to find my specially formed tank corps out of 200 different divisions and send them directly south of Kiev or what not.

The game already allows you to do that. That is the entire idea behind the battle planer. You want to change the system to what it already is.
