That game was five years ago, Steam has come a long way since then.
I dont care if its pirated or not at some point. I care if its pirated before I can get my pre-ordered copy from a digital distributor and I have to read nobodys whining and complaining about stuff that is broken and I am not able to download and play since I still need to wait a week until its released or not. I am Brownbeard and I need to play, whine and complain first!

We should not get a pre-load of EUIV, due to the fact someone may crack it and load it on torrent sites, before release, which is something we and, especially Paradox, do not want (I hope that EUIV does not get pirated after release, Paradox really does deserve our support, unlike some companies (coughEAcough)). A demo will be fine, though.

It apparently shows me the tabs for CD-key,DLC but also for things like Workshop and guides.
Can't get my CD key however since it fails(or there is simply not) to connect to the Key server.
But hopefully it will be pre-loadable since sometimes my Internet likes to fuck up when downloading things and right now my internet works.

That's harsh. Then I hope you got some place for the public, like a library, with good internet and a laptop to download the game on. That's how I do it when I visit my family home in the Swedish mountains.

Well, if people are able to download the game before release, there needs to be some sort of DRM to prevent them from playing it, and more importantly to prevent them from uploading it on pirate networks.
If the game was on the pirate bay before consumers even got their keys it would badly hurt the sales.
My comment completely flew past you it seems. Johan's argument was that a game without Steamworks DRM, would apparantly not be Pre-Loadable, to which I responded that I wasn't aware of this fact. I have always assumed that the Pre-Load protection was a separate system that had nothing to do with whether your game was Steamworks protected or not.
Wait, why can't they just exclude the exe file or something to prevent people from playing it?
Because you're still releasing all the game content files. It's not so simple as "let's just remove this one file!"
