PeteC said:I do think you hit the nail on the head with your logistics comment and how easy it is to ship units around the globe. I have also found that other games get this wrong too and it is unfortunate because it really does screw up the realism of a WWII strategy game. When asked what 1 person was most responsible for victory in WWII Eisenhower responded by naming the man who invented and produced the landing craft - Higgins. Overseas TC is not sexy but, something that these games inevitably get wrong. Transports cost almost nothing and historically key islands/areas such as Malta do not have much signifigance. Is there anything that can be done via a mod.
We will have to experiment with the TC modifiers a bit following release. That is something that is going to take testing by a huge number of people for many games to make sure it doesn't break anything. If you make the value too high, an AI United States might never be able to support troops in Europe, which would make a German game almost boring. On the other hand if it is too low and the US can base hundreds of divisions in Europe we have the exact opposite problem.
I am not going to lie to you and say that it can be modeled accurately, but we are going to play with some of those ideas at a later date.
I can say that we have changed that costs for a lot of the units which should make a big difference in keeping them supplied. In many of test games I see Italy struggle to keep multiple armies in Ethiopia supplied. This is fairly historical and nice to see because it prevents steamrolling by powers at the end of a long supply chain. MDow
