One of the problems with Sim City was that buildings changed over time. Buildings went up, were abandoned, and something else returned in it's place. Will that happen in CSL, or will they stay the way the are after they are built? (I'm thinking about generated buildings, not plopped ones).

Also, will there be possible to construct corner buildings? If a lot is in a corner between two roads, could it have a streetside facade on two sides?

Both very good questions. I think the corner buildings would be difficult to accomplish because there would need to be different buildings for every angle intersection. I assume you are talking mostly about 90 degree angles but what about all of the other intersections.

From what I've gathered via dev demos and AMA's:

Buildings will upgrade as they transition between levels. As in they will tend to look more fancy/larger as you progress up the level scale.

Abandoned buildings will be demolished and a new building will be constructed if there is a demand for that particular RCI, if not then it will remain as an abandoned building. It was pointed out in one of the simulation dev videos.

Not certain regarding the curved corner buildings but haven't spotted anything obvious yet. However this could be something that is already being worked on in their already announced upcoming European DLC, I imagine that with wall to wall buildings the developers would have needed to make a decision regarding with what to do with street corners.

I agree with the OP that I would prefer the buildings not to keep changing, but when I've thought about this issue carefully, and especially when you consider a larger city evolving over time, I don't think there's any way to avoid this.

No buildings will not change over time (excluding upgrading) and no there will be no corner buildings available at launch (However they said corner buildings are something they might attempt after launch.)

There should be a "protection of historic buildings and monuments"-policy, like in SC4 where single buildings could be selected and set to be protected.

That would be great! Cities change over time, but there should be just a certain number of buildings that actually change. There is a reason why most old cities in Europe still have so many old buildings! :)

What ??? Do you really want a dead city like in CXL ???????????????

Buildings becoming old, being demolished, being replaced... it's part of the life of a city.
