Bastardy was one of the most important tools of statecraft in the Middle Ages. I'd hate to think they would phase it out.

Well they rarely got anything served to them but there was always the possibility to get somebody elses land.

In Norway you didn't have to legitimate to claim the throne
(not until 1164 at least, and even after that you could win throgh (Like Sverre))
