No, this isn't a griping post, just some new things that I've see so far. Some are interesting, some are weird. I'm just sharing. The is from the perspective of an ottoman playthrough so far.
New HRE mechanic-
I've been at war with Austria quite a few times so far, and noticed something new. If you are at war with the emperor of the HRE, whether directly, or because he gets called in to defend an HRE member, you can walk anywhere in the HRE without getting military access through all of the minors. You can fight hostile troops anywhere, but neutral troops don't bother you. If at any time you peace out the Emperor, the HRE access is lost. The is mentioned largely because I haven't seen it mentioned much in the forum yet.
Releasing vassals-
I went to war with qara qoyunlu early on to take my last core from them. while at war, I figured, since I was already at war, that I would take a territory and release Iraq per my usual play style. I chose the closest territory where I was making inroads, which was a new territory called Cizre. It had an Iraqi core, so I figured that was good. When the war was over and I went to release Iraq, It wasn't in the list. I thought, previously, all you needed was a territory with a core. I puzzled over this for a while, verifying the core and looking around. Didn't make much sense. I did notice however, and the culture in Cizre was Kurdish. Most of the other territories were Masriqi(sp?). On a hunch, I backed up to the last autosave, and when I Made peace, this time I took Sinjar, which has the masriqi culture. Sure enough I could now release Iraq. So apparently, you not only need a core, but also the proper culture to release a country. Maybe it was always this way, but this is the first time I remember running into such a situation.
Trade value-
Interesting to see the new trade items, but it leads to some weirdness. The new items (dyes, silk, tropical wood) have a trade value of 6 ducets, making them the most valuable. All of the other previously valuable items(spice, cotton, sugar, coffee) have their value set at 4. But the new items have no manufactory buildings attached to them, making them, ultimately, less valuable than the other rare items. To top this off, in my game, an event fired, increasing the value of copper by 50%(from 4 to 6) until 1821. Given that copper does have a manufactory building, that makes copper the most valuable commodity in game right now. The fact that coppers manufactory takes military points(which I have plenty of) is just a double bonus. Now its only 1570 in my game, and other events may fire with drive up the prices of other commodities, but it just feels really weird to have copper be so valuable. I also don't know if the price changes firing are random, or attached to a specific date.
Like I said. Anyone else notice anything unusual that hasn't been talked about much in the forum?
