This is a fantastic AAR, just finished reading, will follow now
The realm rejoices as Paradox Interactive announces the launch of Crusader Kings III, the latest entry in the publisher’s grand strategy role-playing game franchise. Advisors may now jockey for positions of influence and adversaries should save their schemes for another day, because on this day Crusader Kings III can be purchased on Steam, the Paradox Store, and other major online retailers.
They're not at war with Poland. And if the Danish government decides on its own free will to entrust these territories to their most generous protector, Poland, how could they object? :rofl:Well... Attacking Denmark is not so unrealistic... But the ALlies not occupying Iceland and Greenland - THAT's kinda weird
Sure there's always other ways to win, but I felt good to mash down the Germans in 3 months. It's hard to flank them when the have faster units. I'll be addressing that problem when I invade Russia by building a strong mobile force. This is a great AAR. As you I would've captured the coastline of Germany first, then Berlin, and all the armies would've been left without supply as there would be no access to sea and their capital taken.
You have explained the battles in great detail, I like to read all the stuff about IC going up and down and so on. Keep on going and destroy the evil bolsheviks!
Welcome back Winner! I thought we had lost you. I'm not so sure about a war academy, but the mobile formations analysis was a useful way to determine the most cost effective korp formations given my relatively low IC and manpower difficulties. It'll take some time, but I should have nice, potent along with some good allies when I go for the invasion. So I finally read all the new posts - still one of the very best AARs on this forum. The grey threat has been defeated, but the red one is gaining momentum.
Your analysis of the most "cost-effective" mobile corps is very uselful. Don't you plan to launch a War Academy for HoI2?
Since v 1.3, I have never received any gift techs from the allies and VERY rarely have I ever seen any direct military assitance from either France or the UK. Occasionally, you might see the French AI make a grab for the provinces bordering the Maginot line but even that's rare as well. Right ot wrong, the game models the appeasement attitudes of the allies at this point in time. Military Control is not an option because both France and the UK have too much IC. I still manage to get lots of tech trades from these guy for relatively low cost. I actually don't think it's that bad.One question about your "allies." I recently started a Poland game, and it's now winter 39/40. I annexed Slovakia, but am otherwise stalemated along the Oder. Obviously I didn't expect any land support, but when I play Germany I usually see a British plane or two over Warsaw. And the big pain was that even with UK & France at +200, I got really mediocre trades and (the real bummer) no free techs. I had to buy every single tech off them, even Great War Carrier kind of techs.
Canada gets all kind of techs for free from the allies, and so does Hungary (as an Axis partner, at least) when I play these countries. Any ideas?
haha...yeah, it's gone from V for Victory to flipping me the bird. Who better than Churchill to sling around insults?Huzzah ! Overseas territories ! And a very aggressive war with Denmark !
Churchill giving you the finger has now become an instant comedy classic haha .
I may not end up painting Europe butter yellow, but you can be sure a fair amount of it will be when I'm done! Thus Hamlet goes packing...
I was going to ask: why to annex instead of a puppet? Then I saw the new naval bases at Iceland and Groenland and thought "WTF" (Shaka dixit).
What a big monster you've created in MittelEurope, my gosh.
I'm unlikely to involve Bulgaria and definitely not Yugoslavia in my alliance since I'd like to have a Polish controlled land bridge into Turkey with my eye eventually on making the Mediterranean a Polish bathtub.Great update! I especially like the pic of Churchill in the Poland goes too far event
Who will be in your new anti-Bolshevik alliance?
I'd suggest: Finland, Romania, Bulgaria, Yugoslavia and Hungary. All relatively similar governments all dislike the Soviets
Sorry about that...I tried to be gentle. Here's the bottomline on why I needed to take Denmark. I feel it's important strategically to control entry into the Baltic if my intention is a war with the USSR (and it is). I also feel this is a crucial step towards building a navy since the Baltic can be a safe haven and protection from carrier attacks and any possible future allied naval intervention.Ive ben lurking this AAR for a while, but now that you have taken over my homecountry, I can no longer remian silent. Great update!
Welcome I love seeing new readers join in.This is a fantastic AAR, just finished reading, will follow now
None so far. Pretty soon I may begin a long 1x99 series of each but the reality is they just aren't necessary yet and won't be for awhile since my focus right now is assembling forces for an invasion of Russia. You have no convoy transports and escorts. Are you producing any?
Correct. Chamerlain is still the British Prime Minister, although not unrealistic that Churchill would be the one flipping off Poland for it's aggressive behavior. The focus now will be on luring Hungary and Romania into my alliance. As for Poloand being able to exercise control over Iceland and Greenland I say why not?if i've seen correctly churchill is not the british prime minister yet.
i especially liked the danish horror picture right now i smell a couple of pretty interesting diplomacy updates aimed at creating a new alliance
as for denmark i think you should've used the usual danish surrender event as there is no way poland can excercise its authority over iceland and denmark.
Oh it's there...look again in the last 2 images of the last update.Ok, now you just need a Denmark flag on the great leader's chest. (and an alliance with Romania )
I'm surprised you're surprised! I've been stating all along this is my intention and feel that I've provided very reasonable and strategically sound reasoning for taking Denmark. The Baltic MUST be secure and Poland's economic viability would depend on that. But hey...you can't please everyone I suppose. Brace yourself Aux Teergois...it's only going to get uglier from here on. Poland is on the warpath.
It's much more fun this way.....don't you agree?Unrealism? In a AAR where Poland conquered Germany?
Out, sir, OUT!
Aww man...sorry. The poor Danes. But you really have to love a country where the king rides around in the streets without a bodyguard.Well I guess that could be described as "gentle" and the Danes lasted longer than they would have done against the Germans anyways.
*goes to sit in a corner*
Build build build! Building land forces and mobile formations for the invasion of Russia, airforce to support them, a navy to extend my power overseas and building alliances to support my efforts. And Denmark is thrown into submission!!
Poland can now call itself a colonial power!
Good update. I wonder what is next in the works.
As Winner mentioned, this is a different situation that German invasion. Although Poland has been ejected from the alliance, she's not at war with France and the UK and therefore the pretext for an allied occupation of Iceland and Greenland doesn't exist.Well... Attacking Denmark is not so unrealistic... But the ALlies not occupying Iceland and Greenland - THAT's kinda weird
See how magnanimous and benevolent Poland is?They're not at war with Poland. And if the Danish government decides on its own free will to entrust these territories to their most generous protector, Poland, how could they object?
May be he just wanted to be ironic. At least that was my interpretation of his post.Originally Posted by Aux_Teergois
Completely unrealistic is the conquest of Denmark by Poland after winning in Germany. In my opinion, a big mistake the author.
Seriously, he conquers Germany and you still want realism ? Dude, wtf?
Sigh.I do not know what plan, but further conquest of the Nordic countries by Poland possibly that aar slowly become strange.
I am not saying that could harm you, but understand that such conduct as annexation of Denmark is really difficult to ideas in reality. That's not had to move its annexation, only control. Poland could become a country that guarantees the independence of Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland before the Soviet threat, and now is due to the fact that Poland is "a dangerous state of Europe"
While the Polish occupation of Germany can be explained by yet somehow, the conquest of Denmark in any way can not understand because it was a neutral country.
