Darkest hour is one of the best games i have ever played .still i have some questions
1-how much do brigades effect the battle? how much does air power and how much does the general effect the battle
2-Which one is better an army with only tanks or an army with tanks and infantry
3-how can i execute a good blitzkrieg (coordinated aerial attack with breakthrough)
4-is breakthrough even possible? it seems ai sends divisions one by one to slw the attck and then when the retreat is complete they counter attack mostly happens in 1944 darkest hour light in the eastern front so shouldnt an retreating army retreat much more
5-Does encirclement happen in a batlle lets just say i want to encircle a army in the game i need to sometimes capture many provinces to encircle a single one is there any way to damage many units without needing to capture suurendering provinces?

Well, if I COULD have an army entirely of tanks I would. Tanks are just plain better than infantry. But that's why they:

A) Use a lot of fuel where infantry use next to none
B) Cost about 5 times as much

A good blitzkrieg is all about:

A) Making a hole in the enemy line using (preferably) a stack of 23 infantry with artillery brigades with an HQ attached and a field-marshal commanding
B) Shoving all the tanks you have through the hole you just made with your infantry stack
C) Spreading your tanks out beyond the enemy line, taking as much territory as you can. Leave 1 tank division behind to defend each province the enemy might attack

1. Most of brigades are useless, most of time you are better off just building divisions as major. Air power is often decisive in deciding the outcome of a campaign, generals help out the battle a lot.

2. A pure tank army use too much oil and TC, infantry is one of the most cost efficient division in terms of supply consumed and TC used. Majority of your army should be consist of infantry divisions when you play a major.

3. Yes

4. Breakthrough is not difficult, you just need to play it right. Throw in as many divisions as you can get your hands on at point of contact. Even if this make you over stack, you really don't want to bog down with the initial assault. You will want to utilize everything to your advantage such as better generals, more directions of assault, HQ present, plus bomber ground support etc.

5. Big encirclements are actually easier than the small ones, however this depend on your playing style and force available. You can also utilize overrun to destroy the enemy divisions, but this take more practice and experience to carry out successfully. Another way is build a lot of bombers and just defeat the enemy divisions with your land force and then bomb them to pieces. This is of course slower than the previous two mentioned, but is very effective and easy way of grinding down an enemy.

a) Better have 24 infantry per province you want to attack from with at least a field marshal, and an HQ in the background commanded by a useless general or a logistics wizard.

b, c) You only need tanks where you're going to fight behind the enemy lines. Cavalry (1938, or earlier with eng), mot and the hq you used to coordinate the attack can occupy provinces and are more cost-effective. On the other hand tanks are very powerful and can help the infantry to break through.
