I'd use it. It would drastically cut down on the time I spend trying to decide on a country to play.
Sounds rather pointless. Waggle mouse, click is far better or use the random.org list thing.
After all, this game might give you France or Modena at either end of the scale, or Inca or Ming. Doesn't really sound very useful.
This way the local blobs will have more possibilities to be selected.
"Duh, Timurid again. Who am I going to pillage today?"
Not "opposed" to the idea, merely pointing out that the ability to randomly select a country already exists.

Well, bring some sense to the discussion and tell us how.
Go to the general region you'd like to play, close your eyes, wiggle the mouse for a while and click. There, you have random country selection.
You must have missed it.

I'd really prefer PI worked on more important issues, so unless someone mods it, draw names out of a hat. The return of value vs. time invested is bad.
Yeah, it's a head scratcher this one. No telling how long it would take them to cobble together a RNG and a box in the interface. Months could be lost and the companies finest minds could be required. Possibly even a consultant or two.
And the channel islands doomstack problem (fixable through a simple edit) still exists in Hoi3
they don't have infinite resources, staff or time, and to go down the road of devoting them to a niche issue that the playing community isn't really frothing for is bad business and bad design. What does it really give to gameplay that the player can't handle themselves with a mod, a pad of paper and dice or any other randomizer?

As I asked previously anyone know is it possible to mod EU3 to choose random nations? Still no answer. It seems making mod that chooses random nation is impossible.![]()
Want a truly random selection? Get yourself 3 26-sided die (or the computational equivalent). Assign those numbers to letters, look up who's tag that is, and play said nation.
Modders don't have access to that sort of functionality, not without editing the .exe file (and even then... :wacko. You can add buttons to the interface... maybe... but they wouldn't have any functionality.
It... might be possible to write an external application that would scan the history files, construct a list of extant nations for a particular year and then select one randomly... but in all honesty I see no utility in something like this, and writing such a program wouldn't be particularly interesting.
...
There are only about 300 tags in the game. That method would produce illegal tags 98% of the time.
