I just conquered all Japan and found out I cannot demand any lands. and vassalization cost is 999%... (Ming was 399%, any other huge nation's cap is 399%. how did that come up with 999%?) All I can ask is money. Can't vassalize, can't ask for province, can't do anything other than religion conversion and money.

What is this? WAD? no way!!

I didn't like that outsiders cannot inherit Japanese empire anymore in 5.1 enough, but now I cannot even take single province from Japan?!

I know this is Divine Wind, a tribute to Japan. But this is simply too much! Why can't outsiders become Japanese emperor? Like outsider inheriting Ming Empire is ok whereas Japanese crown is not touchable? And now why are provinces locked??

 I don't get this. I hope it's a bug. I'm at war with Ming&Japan. I will see if I can demand Japanese territory through Ming's channel.

But even if it is just a glitch or my misunderstanding, I still don't get why we can't inherit Japan and why its vassalization cost is far higher than much larger nations.

I haven't tried conquering Japan in latest beta, but I was wondering if there are any daimyos left? Maybe the intention is that you should ask in peace territory of the daimyos rather than just annexing Kyoto right away.

If there were no special rules, it would be ridiculously simple to vassal/annex Japan as it is technically a OPM. The reason you cannot inherit Japan anymore is because it basically screws up the whole Shigunate system.

You should take lands from the Daiymos instead. If all the Daiymos' lands are conquered and Japan is still unannexable, then I agree it's a design flaw and should be corrected. But as long as "Japan", the sum of all the daimo's lands, is a big nation, you shouldn't be able the vassalize/annex Japan the single province.

There's several bug reports about this, and this is just rehashing the samething over and over, the vassinalization is part of this. As far as not being able to inherit them from outside nations.....I don't see any reason why you should be able to.

I discovered that the disbanding only happens when there are 2 or less daimyos standing, basically only beat up 2 of the daimyos and white peace the other 2 until there are only 2 left
This is in 5.1

Necro alert!

Sorry to resurrect a three year old thread, but I was able to diplo-vassalize Japan (the OPM empire) whilst playing as Ming.

There's two question I'd like to ask - first, is this normal (nobody seems to have been ale to do this, judging by what I've read on the issue here), and second, will this ruin my game, as in will it wreck the shogunate system, or lead to any unexpected consequences?

If you manage to annex Japan then the remaining Daimyos should turn into normal Feudal monarchies. The same is true if you manage to PU Japan. However I've been playing 5.2 for so long now I can't remember if it works in 5.1.
