Does every train faring tourist arrive in his own personal train? I don't get it... It's just too many trains :D

Would be nice if we could perhaps tick an option to ban tourist trains from arriving at stations. For instance the first station should permit tourists by default, subsequent stations should ban tourists by default. Would keep the metro-system a bit more tidy. I don't see why tourists must have the ability to arrive at all of them. Let them use the metro if they are not happy with their designated destination.

I've been wondering the same thing. I thought about reducing the budget to get less trains, yet I didn't try it out so far.

I though managed to sort out my train tracks so that it could take the heavy load.

Is this primarily a graphics issue (too many "pictures" of trains) or a capacity issue (too much simulated traffic)? If the latter, then the game needs to add a tool for upgrading double track lines to four track of more. It would also help if the only trains which entered stations were those actually bound for that station.

Beyond this I would like to see some fixes in the railroad section: Track building geometry seems wrong and makes it very hard to build realistic looking track arrangement.

How did you manage that? My train lines are blocked.

You must use a little space and bypass every station, so it gets a bit wonky. It helps to have a separate line for goods too. Also every segment of your tracks must be longer than a train.

Here's an example:

The bottom-most line is the goods line. Tourist trains still use it though, since they are so completely random.

I've done my best to make it look realistic, but I agree with the previous poster that the track geometry is currently either just plain wrong or too restricted. Hopefully this will change in the future.

My train corridor looks kinda good from a nice aerial distance though I think:

Each train is individually animated and respond to each other accordingly. They are not mere images I think. It's too much simulation, or rather the frequency is too high, given the pathetic amount of passenger they each carry. In my city (45,000), a typical tourist train carry just between 1 and 30 tourists still, yet there are hundreds of these trains. It makes no sense to have so many trains when there is hardly anyone using them. The frequency should increase as your city grows and attract more tourists. That would be fine I think, but not this. I believe fudge is the word ;)

Yeah, I managed to handle it as well. I just find it ridiculous that there should be so many trains, especially when there are no demand for them. Also I dislike the complete randomness of the tourist trains. We should be able to give them a proper destination.
I tried the budget, but I believe it only affects the city lines. Tourist trains are perhaps not part of the budget, and whoever owns them has surely an unlimited source of cash. Probably pays tourists to visit your city too ;)
