So in the middle and late stages of the game, whenever I look to see what advisors are available for hire, there is always either (A) a ton of Artists; (B) a ton of Natural Scientists; or (C) a ton of both.

I can understand why there's a ton of Artists, since the benefit you get from having one expires the second you hit +3 Stability, after which you're paying them to sit around in their underwear and watch reruns of Bob Ross. So it makes sense for the AI to sack them.

But why so many Natural Scientists? Doesn't the AI like Production Tech bonuses?

In early game when I am lacking of money there are hundreds of bankers because I sell them to AI all the time

In the beginning I used to sell a lot of spies but they are too annoying when you are getting big and some tiny country decides to spam you with spy missions....

that's why I usually "produce" high judges, sheriffs and philosophers - the AI "buys them well and there is little chance they would do any harm to you on the long run :)

to the OP: I have exactly the same experience - a few decades, maybe a hundred year into the game and everything you would find in the adviser pool is artists and natural scientists...

How do you produce them?
I always thought the advisors came randomly.

In Divine Wind you can choose to make one. If your cultural tradition is high enough, you can be sure to get 5 or six star ones. (hint : early game you have too many magistrates.. use them for modifiers and "paintings")

Yes - I was merely thinking on how (if) you can influence what kind of advisors that spawns by them self.
As someone else mentioned, from time to time you have 20 advisors of one single kind but no others.

but that will more likely be the ai making stab advisors and then discarding them when no longer needed, and making sometone else. Most of them are 1 or 2 stars, which goes well with the AI not using magistrates/cultural tradition properly
