Quite a few Dixie troops are already in your starting army. Switch to recruitment mapmode and look at the south, there are several provinces with the yellow-brown "maxed out" colour. Tooltips will tell you exactly how many brigades can be/have been recruited from there.

I wonder if slaves have anything to do with it? Since slaves don't get paid there's more money for farmers/labourers in the slave states so they don't demote as much as farmers in the north?

Maybe I'm missing something, but isn't the US mobilization pool too small with only one unit? Or does creating irregular units increase your mobilisation pool, As opposed to just creating an irregular as part of the standing army?

Due to their NV being Liberty the USA starts with a tiny mob pool. There are various techs that increase it.

And, ultimately, the CSA is a giant pushover. You get nothing close to the long fratricidal war that was the actual ACW, instead they raise at most 30,000 men which you crush with your standing army and then begin a long and slow process of occupying the whole South.

Couple of problems with it. There are some bugs, plus it happens early before pops and techs have increased enough for big armies.

A quick question, are you able to disband the Dixie units, and then just recruit Yankee units and whoop CSA in a split second? if so, it's kinda stupid right?

It's possible, just as it's possible to cheat in a number of other ways. No one forces you to though.

So lets hope that in release they have the appropriate techs as well as maintaining their factories. Perhaps also add a CSA event to raise an immediate army. Lets also not forget that from the time of succession to the First Battle of Bull Run, it was three months. Perhaps some additional events such as a paralysis on the Union armies (their offers leaving under gentlemanly agreement) for a month or so as well as new states have to have free vs slave state decided by popular vote during their joining of the US.

Wouldn't work. For one thing you can't just have an army appear, you'd need to convert some Dixie pops to soldiers and attach them to that, And freezing all the union troops would be bad, imagine if the US happened to be at war with another nation too.

A possible idea might be to convert a percentage of Dixie farmers/labours to Soldiers every time a free state is added to the US so the south can raise more troops, but the player could be gamey if he wanted, recruit those troops and send them somewhere remote/deadly. I don't know, have them all teleport to their home provinces when the CSA forms?
