In old turkish il means state. In maps oghuz yabgu state written as "Oghuz Il". There is a grammatic problem in here. It must be "Oghuz Ili". Oghuz il means "State Oghuz" but "Oghuz Ili" means "State of Oghuz (people)"'. I hope this grammatical mistake resolved before launch.

Wikipedia claims that the policy's name was "Oguz Il", so it's plausible that the development team took the name of the realm either from there or from the source books that Wikipedia is quoting. Come to think of it, is it certain that "Oghuz Ili" would be the grammatically correct term for the Oghuz Turks? While it might be true for modern Turkish, the same might not have been the case a millennium ago.

I dont know where wikipedia find this name for country since there is no source there. But i am pretty sure it is because of their's source's lack of turkish knowledge. The "i" suffix is pretty common and one of the main suffix in turkish. Even 11. Century turkish books like kutadgu bilig you can find it. I am not a grammar expert but i must say name is obviously wrong

I think it might be too late to resolve it before launch given the version 1.0 is frozen (i.e. will not make any more changes to it, to prevent a messy situation if they add in a bunch of changes that turn out to cause further problems, which is the industry standard anyways), but they are already working on patches - I'm pretty sure they'll have a subforum for making suggestions or reporting bugs once the game is up, so hopefully you'll be able to make your case there and make a post explaining this. The devs have said they are aware that many parts of the map and various names are not ideal, so it is something they'll continue to work on.

Is that grammar accurate for Old Turkish? Oghuz Il has 624 google results, Oghuz Ili has only 4.

We should even argue about why is not accurate to use Oguz il because is not the right name to call them. Instead of that "Oguz boyu" (oguz tribe) should be used as its not more clear but also more popular. Oguz il is for me even an anachronism (state ???), in the academic fields, turkish ones included they use boyu.

Secondly, if we talk about the historical accurateness of names then we should change half of the map, starting with León, called Llión (Reinu de Llión) in asturleonés.
