1. UK keeps colonies - mass hit to the international relations, mass rebels in Africa etc. etc. Yes, it is fun.

And remember, politics and elections! There's an slavery issue in Vicky (easily a 'emancipationist' issue), political parties with pacifist program could limit your budget, stands (high militancy) because of your limited but seen as wasteful soldier losses keeping your anachronic empire... so well, there're possibilities.

I think that modders could give the definitive answer about the way Vicky features can fit in Modern Days or Cold War. Though a commercial release by Paradox... I don't think they'd be pleased with the idea (more likely if a good mod is running).

About new games (not just sequels) there are alternatives... Why to keep fixed the timeframes and looking just fot the holes? A napoleonic through WWI war -long XIX century, as Hobsbawn could argue- would be a quite interesting thing... (mixing EU and Victoria).

Unfortunately if you start with the Napoleonic Wars, you automatically throw a huge wrench into the system that will make it impossible to balance a game to a plausible outcome by 1914. Apart from the Liberal Revolution in Vicky which plays this role, the European situation is stable and likely to develop along predictable lines.

Also, I have very little interest in reading megathreads whining about Bulgaria having wrong borders in 1914, when the game started in 1799!

Jesus Christ, do you know ANYTHING about second half of 20th century???!

Korea? Vietnam? All the Israeli-Arab wars? Decolonization and creation of independent african countries? Spreading and then fall of the communism? Electronic revolution?

No, I live in a cave.

That being said, I think you need to consider that the Vicky game concepts are basically distilled Hobsbawm, and would be utterly inappropriate for any purpose whatsoever beyond rise of fascism.

This thread has outlived its usefulness. If Paradox decide to do a MDS game, they will announce it, and then all the discussions here can be repeated, most likely ad nauseum, in that forum. But for this forum, this thread really is not relevant.
