I read several houserules in MP that a country should be annexed within a certain time when having all essential provinces.

I wonder what is the advantage for not annexing immedately.?

If you are at war with only one country, you may want to delay annexing so that you can keep the low consumer goods production required during war. I'm sure there are other benefits as well...

Another gamey approach is in Poland. By leaving a buffer of Polish territories between Germany and the USSR, the likelihood of Soviet invasion is greatly reduced as it would mean war between USSR and the Allies.

While it is an exploit to keep consumer goods down... isn't this done in real life? To make sure this stays on topic, the Cold War right after WWII would be an example. ... So I guess in MP it's a no, but if you can justify it for SP, it's not one of the worst exploits.

Edit: I have an example. As Japan, I'm in the Axis, but I got the event to stay neutral with USSR. But I can lend my planes/army to Germany and they'll fight. In real life, if the USSR found out that Japanese were attacking them in violation of neutrality... it would not be allowed. Expeditionary forces...for game play, it's a benefit, but realistically, many of the ways players use them would never have been allowed in real life (namely Spanish Civil War providing more than 1 division).

But this is the main one that most [including our group] has a house rule on. 5 days max B4 you either annex or puppet. We allow 5 days as there is a no pause rule as well [except 1 Jan which amoung other things is the 30 min break to address the full range of personal needs ;) ].

I know some players who don't even have a 30 minute break between 8 hour game sessions, but it's the addicts I love.
