I was just wondering, why is there no Fantasia scenario in Vic like there was in EU and EU2? (For those of you who have not seen this scenario, you start as one of the six single-province countries in a world that's mostly unclaimed provinces.)

I know 85 years isn't very long to start with one territory and conquer the world, but if you start with a million pounds and enough resources for 10 or 20 colonial buildings you could still do some damage. By mid-century your little country could fill the blue sky with lots of thick, black smoke. Just to complicate things, some of the unclaimed provinces could contain your nationality, but in scattered, hard to reach places. :p

Oh, and by the way, in the future I would still like to see cold weather, and explorer events! ;) For example:

*The Franklin Expedition:
Canadian Arctic Terra Incognita is revealed.

*Livingstone/Stanley:
Central African Terra Incognita is revealed.

*Amundsen/Scott:
Umm... a few extra prestige points for UK and Norway?

The main differance in this game is there is no exploration that was required in EUII. That was what made the Fantasia work IMHO :)

POP growth might be a little too low to enable you to make use of the world's territory. Also, since migration isn't up to you to control it might be a little odd... AFAIK the engine isn't programmed to work in a world that consists of 99% empty provinces.

Victoria doesn't have an exploration system, and it's colonisation system is very different from EU's and not suitable for a Fantasia scenario (you can't directly increase populations, and EU provinces had a sharply decreasing rate of increase in production from city size which meant that provinces with a very small city still had decent production). Also, the economic system of Victoria probably wouldn't work very well in a world with very few populated provinces.

I don't see any theoretical reason why it wouldn't work.

As it stands now, unclaimed colonies have pops, and those pops have cultures. So you wouldn't need to have colonial emigration to fill England's newly claimed colony of Switzerland with citizens.

In EU's Fantasia scenario, because of the way the EU colonization engine worked, most colonies that made it to level 6/7 would end up with national culture. In Victoria, you could write an event (checks every month) that would convert all the pops in a colony that hadn't be granted statehood to your national culture. That'd replicate the way EU's colonization engine gave colonies national culture.

A more workable setup would have every land province evenly split by all the 200some tags for a fantasia-like experience, if there is any hope of those countries being able to have a varied economy.

I enjoy the Fantasia scenario in EU2. I understand the reasons such a scenario would not work the same way.

For this game, I would like very much to see a "Fantasia" scenario that would let your country *automatically* start as civilized, with all the relevant advantages. As it is, I wonder how much fun it is to play a country other than a European 1st or 2nd rate power or the USA.

The world market situation would make it extremely difficult to make a fantasia scenario work, and even more difficult to make it balanced. You wouldn't be able to buy anything off it at first. How will you industrialize?
