Why no Common Sense pre Order

Well, to be able to buy it and registering the key on Steam it would mean that I would have it downbloaded and installed when I get home from work today

As the size of this DLC probably is small it doesn't really matter in this case, but larger releases benefit a lot from pre-loading.

Steam would download it immediatelly and you would be able to start playing it few minutes earlier

This isn't really an issue with Paradox's model IIRC, as everything is in the free patch in terms of downloads and so basically buying the DLC is flipping a switch somewhere. i.e. It pretty much does this anyway.

well if we go for Swedish time then I would assume midnight on the 19th there which would be 13.30 hours if I assum its +0 so GMT would be 11.00... why 19 hours? Steam usually releases at a specific time?

They don´t do preorders now, but i am pretty sure i preorderd Conquest of Paradise, when it released.

Not quite. Music and gfx from DLC are still downloaded separately. But yes, events and the code is in the patch.

My internet is really bad, so I could download it before going to work and have it done when I get home

I think it is a technical question. Definitely games or dlcs exist in steam database before the announce, and keys generated by special algorithm.
But we will see - I don't want to be a donkey .
Actually I already did such activations for previous addons - for now I have all dlcs

yeah I do know that but I would assume that 3rd party retailers would only get steam keys after release. Especially since there is no pre order. What u did was preorder and get a steam key when everyone is saying there isnt any. Even worse is that you are abe to get steam key but we, the steam users, cant get them!! It's not wierd, I've done it too. Just because the game is hidden, doesn't mean it doesn't exist

They get the keys much, much earlier, so they can prepare for release. Some make mistakes and start selling the game earlier than they should and that's how you get unexpected preorders

Right. Even with the patch, it still won't work until the official release.

I've just bought one too. I'd happily buy it on steam, but it's available now for pre-order at a small discount so why not?

Besides, isn't the reason they stopped pre-orders for CK2 and EU4 DLC because there was a slight delay with one of the early CK2 DLCs and the forum went nuts for a few days. Legacy of Rome I think, but I could be mistaken.

yeah but a sort of pre order exists on third party retailers it seems and without Steam or Paradox even acknowledging pre orders or allowing them

Just wait for greenmangaming bundle. Last time they had el dorado plus all el dorado cosmetics for the price of lone el dorado. I missed that one bcs i insta bought it on steam and minutes later i saw the offer on the gmg.
