I Disagree.
Concerning Mechanized:
If I replace the two motorized with two 1942 mechanized I lose 10% speed (only the 1944 Mech can go the full 12kph) and the production costs increase 12%.
And what do I get for that?
A good chunk more Defense (+30%), but I dont need that. I don't defend with Tanks.
When adding Mech to a Medium Tank division I would only add the 1944 version . But they are really expensive (1rubber, 4 steel) ~5 times the cost of Motorized (in reality more, because you capture Motorized for the cost of 0)
I do that when I don't know what else to produce...
Concerning Organisation:
In my example it's full mobile warfare Germany. I get ~32 Org with two Motorized. That's enough for a offensive division.
Adding one more motorized and removing a Tank gives 5.5 more Org. But at loss of -7% Soft Attack, -11% hard attack and -11% Breakthrough.
A trade of... I go with only 30 Org, but more punch.
Mec give 20% more HP, mean 20% less MP casuatiles and equipment loss. More hardness too. Faster in rough terreain: forest, snow, mud... More piercing, more armor...
Defense is helpful when enemy counter attack. MEC is the best defense battalion. 20% less tank loss for 15-5?
The valuable use of MEC is to mix with MOT to increase threshold of armor, piercing, hardness.. that for some reason you cannot add more tank.
Now I mostly use cheap tank divisions, so I don't use MEC. Save the IC for tanks. I recommend everyone to try cheap tank division tactics. For example the template: 3 medium tank- 7 cav or MOT (whichever have higher Org), with suport ARt, support R.art, recon, eng... Make sure your armor defeat enemy infantry piercing and your piercing defeat enemy tank armor. The next step is learn how to use 50 tank divisons!
