Development of technology gives a bonus to all units in the game. This attack and defense bonus is small on each step of technology, but it exist. For all with one exception. For no conceivable reason, light cavalry has no bonus to defense from the development of technology. New elephants and camels units have, but light cavalry not. Why is LC so exceptional? Or is it just a bug?

Perhaps because light cavalry is considered a unit for light pursuit/harassment/scouting, purposefully under-armored for that task? Just a thought, and by no means guaranteed to be the right one. =)

It looks like a bug/copy-paste error. LIGHT_CAVALRY_OFFENSIVE = 0.3 exists twice (which I'm pretty sure doesn't stack), and I believe that second LIGHT_CAVALRY_OFFENSIVE is supposed to be LIGHT_CAVALRY_DEFENSIVE = 0.3.

That seems reasonable. Looks like maybe War Elephants got injected in the middle of the original defensive list there (rather than at the end of the OFFENSIVE list) and then someone "corrected" the second LC line to read "OFFENSIVE" like the lines before and after it.
