Why isn't Radar built in a province?

It seems really weird to me that Radar when built isn't in a specific province/tile. And is just vaguely in the State. Like it's ethereal. I think it should go in a specific tile when you build it. And you choose where. Destroying and capturing Radar stations was a big deal I think.

Also, really dumb you can't choose where Airbases go. Extremely dumb. Especially when you see it build your Airbase in enemy territory or on the border and it gets overrun.

yeah, in a lot of places on the map, not tying radar and provinces to specific tiles really screws their effectiveness.

you end up with planes who cant even cover their own state entirely, with no option to split the state between a north and south airbase, creating massive deadzones. Not to mention radar just being horrible in any large state until like, level 4.

Currently playing as Poland, the centre of my radar built in Danzig (used to calculate the radar coverage), is actually in German-held East Prussia. This seems a bit weird, but it works a bit to my advantage.
In the real world, radar stations would be built close to the border or the coast, in order to 'see' approaching enemy airplanes as quickly as possible. So I don't know if the in-game system is that bad, tbh.

Anyone actually cared to take a look in what radar and air warning Networks looked like?

Like networks, lines of observations, layers of observation posts.
You could as well argue that infrastructure should be per province, because of Market Garden.

The system gives a decent representation of Reality.

It would be great if building radars was possible on exactly one, designated-by-the-player, tile per state. Otherwise certain states would get loaded with Radars and probably breaking something in the process.

Radar is a province wide system, not a single tower. Having to build a tower in each province would be a CIC sponge and too much micro.

I will grant that the deployment of radar could be better centered in many provinces. I doubt that project would be worth the man hours though. I suppose submitting a bug report on some of the more egregiously placed radars might get fixed.

This. I always assume the radar per state represents an array of individual radar stations covering the province.

While Radar should stay a statewide thing, Airfields should certainly be built in provinces (not more than 1 per province). This would fix many current problems with them.
No wing sizes >200 then and tons of tedious microing.
Neither realistic nor user-friendly. Plus: having large air bases makes them a strategic objective to capture or neutralize.
