Good? He failed spectacularly in the sino jap war and then failed again in the chinese civil war due to failing in the sino jap war.

He is the Country Leader in the 1936 start, and not a field commander or field marshal.

In reality he is more like a politician rather than a general.He did quite bad in fighting with Japan and communist China

Based off the Wikipedia (not a great source but I’m not on campus rn to access the university library), Chiang delegates at least dejure to his commanders during most of the big battles of the Sino-Japanese war, even though he was a notorious micromanager

I think Chiang should become a general if China switches to a democracy

An analogy would be Hitler's role. He was head of country but was also a notorious micromanager in the war. Since he can't be both general and head of country, he must be head of country. Was Chiang a field marshal in HOI3 or HOI2 - I can't remember now?

I thought of that too. The PRC didn't actually exist until 1949, so it's appropriate for Mao to be a field marshal until then since the CCP was leading a rebellion until then.

I don't see why isn't compatible to be Leader of the country and Field Marshall, Fevzy Camak starts as Field marshal and can be Leader as well. In fact, some historic accurate mods have Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek as Marshall too.

I think instead of becoming a fm, there should be additional leader traits other than a +40% increase of war support in case of defensive war. Additional command power increase and military leader assignment cost could be reduced under him.

Speaking of Chinese generals, He Yingqin still hasn't made it to the list despite having a portrait in the game files...
