All of the land underneath my industrial areas turns a peculiar purple sort of colour correlating with ground pollution. I can understand having a visual indication of ground pollution, but the purple colour looks weird and is too intense. A brown colour would have been better, I think (to resemble dead grass).

Incidentally, this is generally a good game, but I thought that I should mention the purple issue as nobody seems to have mentioned it so far.

The strange thing is that they changed the purple ground pollution in patch 1.0.3 that was released before the game came out to a more greyish color.
But now it seems that the purple is back again. To make it even more strange I have read on different places that some still have the grey pollution, but I have purple.

Very strange indeed.

It might be that the pollution collors are changing based on filters and themes?

personally i don't see why it needs to be there at all.i have a pollution map to see it, discolour the organic stuff granted, but that purple shading i can live without
Right. I imagine they chose purple because it's a very noticeable, disparate color within the rest of the game colors so it makes identifying it at a glance very easy. But that's what the overlay is for. Roads don't change color in game based on traffic, buildings don't glow orange when they are more of a fire hazard. No, only the pollution has an artificial effect like that that appears in the normal game view, so it's very odd.

I'm actually wondering if pollution color is map-specific, or something. Really not sure.

It seems to be map specific - on some map types, it's purple. On other map types, it's brown.

No matter what map type you're on, though, the colour in data views is always the same, brown, as it should.

I think there might be a blending error...

Maybe they forgot a few maps when they changed the colors.

The dev's said in a video that they made it purple because a test audience found that was the most clear indication that the ground is populated. Apparently other colours were to unclear.

Somehow it looks like CO's pulling off that "black/gold or blue/white dress" for this game....

The... what now?

The dev's said in a video that they made it purple because a test audience found that was the most clear indication that the ground is populated. Apparently other colours were to unclear.

I agree with the test audience (for once) - The grey pollution that Temperate? maps use is far too easy to miss once you zone out areas.
