I thought at least they should have the freedom to turn fascist if they wanted. Right now if they want to get their manpower back, they have to go through that democratic focus tree. Why?

Yeah, I'd love to see a Neutral and Fascist China tree, It would be great if the Chinese Minors could turn into a Fascist or Neutral China, rather than be locked to Democracy or Communism.

I really don't want to turn into a democracy as china, it means I won't be able to justify against the allies for the awake and angry achievement.

Fascism being locked into warlords and Manchukuo really sucks:oops:, they aren’t even real countries how can they even go fascist.....
Wang Jingwei doesn’t fit a fascist leader role too, Chiang admired fascism, though, it’s really implausible for him to go down the democratic path.

I think it's because each China is supposed to be an ideology

Commie China = Communism (Obviously)

Nationalist China = Non-Aligned then democratic

Manchukuo = Fascist

Warlords = Flexible, but it's not the nation that change itself but the Warlords strategy to have power.

Even if Nationalist China goes down the democratic path, for some odd reason they still the share the same leader (Zhang Lan) with Communist's China's "Social Democracy" focus leader. The only difference is democratic Nationalist China's Zhang Lan still uses one of generic Asian army general portraits while Communist China's Zhang Lan uses his new updated portrait. Last time I checked, there was still only one political leader named Zhang Lan at the time.

I think there should be a facist route, or at least a path to the Axis. The ROC was chummy with the Reich for a while and sought to emulate it (a fact the new focuses even mention). I understand the democracy path but Chinese democracy didn't mean "alliance with the west and emulation of them in totality."

You are not locked into democratic route. You can pick democracy foci and remain 100% unaligned to the end of the world. All you need to do is to enact two decisions.

Probably for the same reason that Italy doesn't have a communist or democratic route. It seems like the devs intended for china to be its own proper theatre of war, with its own major alliance blocks. In this case, the national front versus the co-prosperity sphere. It seems to me that, as a whole, ideology is a lot less emphasized for chinese nations in-game, and more emphasis on asymmetrical warfare, political jockeying, and realpolitik. The foreign aid tree is pretty good at representing that, and I think it's a shame that the warlords don't have access to it.
