Why is my machine empire consideres xenophage?

I am playing a machine empire with no special empire type, and just realized that I have a xenophage modifier somehow. Where could this come from? I don't think I have conquered a single enemy planet. I only have machine and robot pops in my empire. Will this modifier ever go away?

What's your purge settings? That could be it. Otherwise, might be a glitch.

I do not see a policy for purging for some reason. I guess I may have accidentally bought a non robot pop on the slave market when I was trying to buy robots? Otherwise I don't think I ever had non-machine pops on my worlds.

The xenophage modifier comes from keeping pops as livestock. By default, any organic pop in a machine empire is set to grid amalgamation, which is the equivalent of livestock. Maybe check the species screen and make sure you have no organic pops in your empire, then sell them on the slave market or displace them (I think machine empires can displace). Alternately, going the matrix route and using organic batteries can be a very powerful source of almost free energy, so don't rule it out.

I tried finding them and could not find any organic pops. If I accidentally had one in the past, would the diplomatic modifier go away at some point?

Thanks for the feedback guys. I loaded up the save again and the penalty was suddenly gone. I think it was just a bug.

Edit:
I have looked more at the save and here is what I think happened: I robomodded some of the robots I bought on the slave market (who now live happily as part of my machine consciousness) but after they were finished modding their default status for some reason became amalgamation. I just needed to click on them in the pops menu once for their status to automatically switch back to machine consciousness. The penalty is gone instantly after I do that.
