In general, I think it's somewhat silly to hate on the gameplay elements, yet.
We have a very limited idea of what the actual gameplay is going to be like and mostly have to fill in the blanks by looking for similiar mechanics in other paradox games. Who knows if pops are going to be something you have to constantly mess with (like a stellaris planet) or something you only occasionaly think about, when you have a specific plan or points left over (like development in EU4) or if both of those are wrong and it's going to be a new kind of gameplay loop.
So we should all come together, hold hands and hate on them for their historical blunders instead! Those we can already judge properly :>
