Hi all,
I wish to thank Nomoi, Bogey and some others that saw the light :)
RTS for a game like this is simply no option.
However the real news is that Paradox slipped the pub date to 1st q 2001 to introduce TB option in the game.
Hooray for the Paradox!!!

Well, I don't really see what there is to argue about, since pausable real time caters to both the turn based as well as RTS crowds, while allowing for playable multi-player games. Talking about 'Realism' however is pretty much beside the point, as time constraints were not an issue at the strategic level during the time period described in the game. (Possibly it could serve to simulate incompetent desicion-making due to other factors, but nah...)

From what I've seen of the AARs, I think the way real time is handled in EU is a refreshing change for a strategy game.

Events appear to happen realistically over time, instead of quickly as when game turns are a week, a month or even a year at a time. You get to react to that army moving towards a province, instead of suddenly seeing that army in your province as soon as you hit the turn button.

As has been said (and oft repeated) you can play at any speed or, in single player mode, pause the game.

And I say this even though I am generally not a big fan of RTS games because they are usually quite short on the strategy and long on quick/continuous action mouse clicking (IMO). Each to his/her own.

I am myself a RTS hater but in this case a think the solution they have is the one who best fits the game.

It should NOT be called real time when it is not, it is not real time when I get 5 sec to make a desicion the real King had a mont to take continus time would be better.

What is your major malfunction? The game IS RTS an will never be turnbased no matter how much you're lying.
The game is released i Germany this week and in Scandinavia dec 1st.
CDmag NEVER said anything about a january release so just STOP spreading false rumours.
