Played Communist France, Germans declared war on the Soviet in 1941, and I joined the war too with all fortifications ready, all troops armed to the max without any equipment deficits. But then the germans just pushed through belgium (I annexed Belgium before), without trouble, even though I build level 3 fortifications. But ofcourse, germany means being able to steamroll everything even if the enemy is stronger!

The thing is, I'm using the same division templates as I usualy do with Soviets, but for some reason the French are just so much weaker than Soviets, because when I play Soviets, the germans cant really much take an inch of my land, yet as france they just pushed through like nothing, even though I used all that time to fully prepare my army.

AI France needs to be weak so that Germany can win and a historical WW2 is possible. Yes it would be better if it were done by emulating historical conditions, but that's much more challenging than a lot of people might realise.

However as a player, France is definitely playable. The "easy" method is to spam forts all along the border with Belgium - as you may have noticed, level 3 forts won't do much to stop the German war machine. You want at least level 8, or all the way to level 10 if you want to really play it safe.

I hear you. The developers did a great job of making France weak enough so that Germany can win and the war continue into Russia.

I would suggest you watch this video though. It is by a man who played Democratic France with no forts and won. It is not a dull video as the guy knows how to make it amusing. I learned several things from it, like how to get War Economy very early, the need to maintain war support, and monitor world tensions for specific reasons. They are things we hear about, but the video made me see how it can be done.

Another person posted it on another thread. I wished I had seen it a long time ago.

Probably you don't have enough AA in your divisions, minimum support AA, preferable 2 line AA per division; and French has more plain lands and less land doctrine than Soviet.
