why i lose money my cities skylines

You're losing money due to maintaince. You start without a deficit and the moment you begin to place roads and services (Windmill, Pumping Station, etc.) you automatically start losing money to pay for maintences for the roads that have been placed. So, your option is to quickly build Industry and Commericial. But, you need to first have residents.

I usually pause the game, plop 3 wind power,water.sewage. Then connect them all up together with power line and water pipes.

I then run water pipes to the main entrance, then evenly lay pipes about the bottom half kilometer or so, across the 2km length. Then start laying roads off the highway until I run out of money,

then zone RCI everywhere, then unpause and wait. First you will lose a little bit of money (reject bailout) but quickly gain money. Wait until get get enough for a school and plop it first thing.

Then wait for more money and only build services it asks for. It takes a while for service to be needed. I usually ignore fire and build police first. Without police you get criminals who make fires. So police is more important than fire.

Start a new city and see for yourself. Don't plop any fire or police. Watch crime and fire. Plop a police station and watch fires reduce.

do the same with education and watch fires and crime both reduce as well.

That's really quite amazing :eek: Makes sense, but I'd never expected it to be a game mechanic... This explains why my redneck farming village is constantly on fire despite two stations :(
