So, I honestly don't think that the Galaxy edition is really worth the extra 30 (insert monetary unit here)* but I got it anyway. The reason is because I love and support Paradox. I remember what happened to all the other companies where I used to pre-order the games (they all got swallowed by EA... every single one of them) and I don't want to see that happen to Paradox. If my small amount of extra money can help prevent something like that, I will give it to them.

It's also why I have ordered those DLCs for Crusader Kings II that don't interest me anyway. It's because I have a company here that I am willing, even happy to give money too, because I get the feeling that they care about the people who play their games. Go onto the EA message boards, and you won't get any actual human response from anyone high up in the production chain. They have forum robots who simulate higher-ups, and they have hired flunkies who give you scripted responses to anything you say. It's obvious nobody is scripting the answers we get to questions from the Paradox devs.

Paradox, you are the ONLY company from which I am currently willing to preorder games so... keep it up. I need at least one company I can believe in.

Thank you.

*I mean that the extra content probably isn't worth $30.00 (or whatever unit you use). I think the game will probably be worth $70.00 easy.

I got the Nova package for pretty much the same reason. Galaxy was a bit too steep for my personal liking so I went for Nova. It seems like a fair price to pay for the game anyway with or without the extra's. If the game is actually good (of which I have litte doubts) then I know there will be DLC's for which I will gladly pay full price. Also HoI 4 will be here a month later, so a lot of my money will flow towards Paradox and I'll be happy to do it if they'll continue the awesome work :)

I don't think people should pre-order games when they don't know what the final quality is going to be, when they don't trust the developers to deliver. i think its foolish and its basically handing over your money for a promise of quality that you don't know that will be delivered, look at Rome 2 total war.

Which is exactly why when i get my next paycheck i'm pre-ordering the Galaxy edition as well of stellaris. Paradox interactive is the only company that makes games that i can not only trust, but feel absolutely guaranteed that i'll be getting many more thousands of hours of gaming out of.

Thank you paradox developers, for all the games of the past and for the upcoming ones HOI4 and Stellaris, i'll be pre-ordering both (Stellaris very soon, HOI4 as soon as its possible!)

Paradox appreciation thread :D

I know one shouldn't buy what a game can be, but rather what it is.

Except, having played both CK2 and EU4 from early development as my introduction to Paradox games, I know the game will be quite different in one or two years. These games are always in development, almost to the point sure sequels will be insane feats. I'm buying maybe a thousand or more hours of entertainment over the years.

But I won't pre order any special versions. I already pre-ordered the book and I wouldn't pay for the other things. I'd rather wait for major DLC.

I like Paradox too, but I got the standard edition, because I fully expect to spend about £100 on various pieces of DLC throughout the lifespan of the game.

And all of these are perfectly legitimate. I happen to have the money to spare. But I don't think it's "wrong" to pre-order the standard or the Nova edition by any stretch. If I didn't have the spare money, I'd preorder Nova or standard. I'd still pre-order, even if I couldn't afford it, but that's because this is Paradox doing my favorite genre of all time. How could I not?

(Literally, my favorite genre is Science Fiction 4X Grand Strategy.)

I went and got the Nova Edition, wasnt bothered by the special stuff in Galaxy edition, and of course I went and read on the steam community hub. Some of the responses were hilarious.
One guy genuinly believed that unless he bought Nova and above he wouldnt get a soundtrack when he is playing the game, another thought the game had predefined races like all other 4x type games, and was complaining that he had to get Nova to get the Spiders...

Pre-ordered nova. Galaxy didn't seem to be worth it.
I'm a customer. Pdox are not my friends. They're a company the products of which I enjoy and whose policies on community interaction I very much approve of.
So I don't feel obliged to be charitable/supportive to them, but to make sure that the exchange of goods and casharoonies is mutually beneficial.
Which it is. But fanboyism should only go so far.

The thing that sold the galaxy edition for me was the stream riddled with bugs.
Unlike with other producers and their flashy 3d not ingame trailers I know exactly what I'm going to get with paradox.

Although I have registered here a long time ago, this is my first post here. Although I never preordered from Paradox before, I did today. And even though I never owned any special editions from Paradox yet, here I'm, ordered Galaxy edition today. Simply because I love what Paradox does, how they do it and how they deliver it.

And also the fact that Stellaris seems to be the first 4x/gs type of game that will surpasse the Distant Worlds greatness.

I'm looking forward to Stellaris very much. :)

Same for me. I've registered a long time ago as well and didn't post before. Over the years Paradox games have given me a lot of joy and compared to other hobbies of mine, the value for money is quite high, since you can be assured you'll be playing for hundreds of hours without getting bored of their games. I knew for a fact that I was going to buy Stellaris on day 1, so I might as well preorder it and get some additional goodies.

The thing that sold the galaxy edition for me was the stream riddled with bugs.
Unlike with other producers and their flashy 3d not ingame trailers I know exactly what I'm going to get with paradox.

Haha, yeah, at least their marketing is honest.

I actually think that their marketing is very pro-consumer. They try to sell their game by actually showing you gameplay.
Which for some damn reason seems like a radical notion these days :/
