hi all

Probably a bit of a Noob question, but it puzzles me.

Playing Switzerland in Vanilla Vicky2 (around 1860 now), notice my Pops don't get their luxury needs.
I put the stuff needed on stockpile and made it available to them, but they don't buy it.
Apparently (my thought) they can't afford it, so I lowered taxes but after 1 year or so, they still don't fulfill their luxury needs.

Any thoughts on where to look.

Thanks for all directions.

First of all point over luxury goods icon in population tab (glass of vine) and check what the problem is. It could be that the good is not available to them or they can't afford those good.
Remember to check box in trade tab to allow selling goods from national stockpile to your pops.

thanks for the reply.

Main problem seems to be the lack of funds.
Lowering taxes doesn't seem to solve the problem.
Is there more I can do? Missing something maybe?

Just curious

It depends what sort of pop it is. But using farmers as an example, raise your farming efficiency through techs. If what they produce isn't in high demand though, they still won't increase their income, and they'll start having higher unemployment. That will free up labor for other occupations, but won't help your luxury problem or your taxes in the meantime. For soldiers, officers, bureaucrats, and clergy, you need to increase your military, administrative, or educational budget. Laborers are like farmers but need mining efficiency techs. I don't know about slaves, nor whether that matters. Craftsmen need to be working in high demand profitable factories I think. Artisans always seem to be starving and not changing jobs quickly enough. If there is a way to fix that besides raising literacy and encouraging them to change jobs, I don't know it. Capitalists need profitable factories in their state, and aristocrats needs profitable farms or mines I think. If the provinces production is unprofitable, they're just SOL.

Make more profits. Better industries, especially commerce techs giving input and output efficiancy (management strategy becoming available in 1870 is a really important techs in AHD). Failing that, negative tarrifs will work, but can cost you a lot of money.
