I didn't normally mess with robots before le guin but since it seems lile the nest way to really fill in some unemployment gals. However the last two times ive really invested in robots they never work the lower class jobs. In fact they dont work any jobs. I build them and they are immediately unemployed despite having farming, mining, clerk jobs available. I have the same problem with robots i buy on the slave market.

Once i research and upgrade them to droids they immediately fill those jobs but for some reason the lower tier robots won't. Has anyone else experienced this or know if im doing something wrong?

Do you have any mods installed? This sounds like a mod bug, possibly due to a mod that was intended for pre-2.2 or that conflicts with another mod regarding job names or something.

Assuming robot workers are allowed at all, they should take worker-tier jobs. If they are disallowed, you shouldn't be able to build any (less sure about buying them off the market; I never tried). If either of those conditions are not holding, and you are running the latest build (2.2.4 beta or 2.2.3 release) without mods, file a bug.

I'm sorry if the question is silly, but are you 100% sure about farming and mining jobs? Base robots can only do those two, they can't be clerks or technicians. Once upgraded, they can do those jobs as well, and on their third upgrade they can do all jobs.

Funny thing about the mods question. When i first noticed this I was playing vanilla. This more recent time I am using mods and the strange thing is the modded lower class jobs are getting filled while the vanilla jobs were not. Its why i didnt notice the problem at first.

I'm about 99% sure i had mining jobs open but ill check again when I get home. Something is up and since no one is really talking about it it is likely user error. If it is this issue i feel pops shouod get displaced into other low class work robots cant fill as opposed to creating both unemployment and a job surplus
