Playing Germany in 1,06 I have Leningrad, Stalingrad, Magnitogorsk, Moscow, Baku and the Japs got Vladivostok but there is not bitter peace event. According to the 1,06 text the event should fire if you control the provinces I have. Is there something else that has to be fulfilled?

I am in deep trouble and only managed to capture Magnitogorsk after offensive where I threw in all what was left in manpower. Perhaps Stalin sensed it was the last effort? The Americans have landed in Europe but Paris is still under German control. Any thoughts?

As long as you hold all the major Russian cities plus Paris, all you need to do is wait, as there is a 7 day offset. If you save and reload, there's a decent chance it would be triggered.

Or...you could always trigger it yourself...

I am an honest player  I was just curious since I desperately need that peace immediately. The allies are gobbling up my western front entirely and I need to re deploy my forces asap. I waited for the event to trigger but perhaps I didn’t wait seven days.

It's not a instant trigger, it can take a while and might not happen before you get the chance to annex. If you can hold your posistion and current drive then it's likely that the computer will not dar to attack you. If you're on the ropes in Russia you might have some serious problems facing you.

Well its only a matter of time before Stalin makes a counter attack. I have 0 manpower and most of my divisions are fading away in the cold. Only good ol`Rommel is capable of giving the Ruskies a fight and the commando ace Braeur in the Turkish mountains shouldn´t be forgotten :) I guess Stalin soon will take back one of the key cities and that is goodbye. Kind of sad to be so close to a peace and still fail but that is life. I did better than Adolf at least. Next game… :)

* Tony Montana voice on * ”You should see the other guy, you should see the other guy”.

Well I had a back up game just when I stood at the gates of Istanbul in january 1940. Then I had the choice of making Turkey a puppet and I should have done (was considering that really hard) that and focused on the Russians immediately. Since I didn´t I couldnt attack until may 1941. Think I will go back to the back up game to learn some more.

I may be a quitter but the allies are close to Paris and have no troops to defend the western border. The Russians are really on the offensive and soon 40 of my div will be surrounded in Stalingrad. Might as well put Paulus in charge and promote him to field marshal

If the Japanese are in the Axis, you don't need Magnitogorsk (ducks). Pull your troops back, it should free up some troops you can send to the West.

Better late than never :D Besides, if you have got that far, the Soviets are now building (wasting) a lot of militia units. Fall back to the shortest possible line, and keep some armor and tactical units in the East. As soon as the Soviets point a toe in your direction, use tactical bombers so they arrive at zero org. Use the same tactic in the west, Bombers cost a crapload in supplies but if your short of MP, they are vital.

Started another game as Germany and have all key-points except Magnitogorsk. I have a pretty stable position so Magnitogork will hopefully soon be mine (no japs in the alliance since I don´t trust they will take Vladivostok for me).

However Baku is held by Turkey, does that change anything ?

Then it shouldn´t matter, since it needs to be held by alliance, not by you (same with japan in the first place...)

That was the answer I was hoping for, thanks :)

Took for ever to get the bitter peace event for me. And when I got it I lost all my TAC bombers stationed in Russia (east of the bitter peace event front). All my other troops stood in their provinces (still behind the Russian front). However, I was unable to move them anywhere?? The only solution I found (well, didn't search for too long), was to DOW Russia again. Got all my territories back, which I still was holding. Reasoned like this: If the Ruskies didn't allow me to move my troops, they broke the peace and thereby entitling me to DOW them. All newspapers, radio broadcast etc, disttibuted this news to all over the world BEFORE I dowed.

Those poor troops! Here they thought they would be allowed to leave the front lines and maybe return to their homes and families, if only for awhile, and then unexpectedly they receive news that they have to stay at the front for an undetermined amount of time and continue the fighting...

*ahem* What I mean to say is that...uhh...ummm...that sucks. I had thought that 1.06 gave the Soviets and Germans an event that gave the Wehrmacht military access for a couple of months in which to withdraw their troops, but maybe not. I know that CORE has it.

But whatever works. Did you make it to Irkutsk before you got thrown across the Siegfried Line?
