Why doesn't "Izumo" province produce gold?

I find that Ver1.192 version patch or anything changed Izumo province's goods on 1444 to iron from fish.
I don't know this reason but iron is different from silver(in EU4 gold).
Why did PDX change?

Actually, Gold seems to be any extremely valuable mineral. The gold mine in La Mancha is actually a mercury mine iirc.

It's used for gold, silver, mercury (we could hardly avoid covering the source of the wealth of Europes most powerful banking family) and diamonds (Golconda). In Burma there's also a gold province due to high general concentration of rubies and other gemstones iirc.
It's reserved for extremely valuable commodities though.

The reason there's only one gold mine in Japan is indeed balance. The decision dates back to version 1.0 though and balance has changed a lot since then. It's something that we might reconsider in the future.

Because Japanese embracing of institution is very slow and AI couldn't use Navy successfully, AI United Japan couldn't invade Korea and Manchu even Japan has 2 gold provinces.
And also Mutapa has 2 gold mines without price penalty. Did you see Mutapa become OP?

Japan had always run a trade deficit before modern era because Japan had many specie and there were no necessity of export goods.
2 gold mines are not inconsistent to real history.
In addition, iron was produced Harima and Aki province in Saigoku Area on Japan in history.

Still you think 2 gold mines are not balanced, change Kai province's goods. Iwami silver mine is definitely important than Kai.

Mutapa has an inflation reduction tradition to offset the gold inflation by a bit. Japan would certainly be a bit troubled if it got a Potosi level gold mine.

Hmm, yes, I think I got it mixed up with Vic2.

However, in M&T Königsberg produces Gemstones, which works through the gold production mechanic. Not sure what it produces in Vanilla then.

Why not add silver? Silver was important to the Spanish (Potosi mines in Bolivia). The economy tab could say Precious Metals instead of gold and when you put your cursor over it, it can specify how much income from gold and silver separately.

It still wouldn't really catch everything it's used for though. We have the same situation with some other trade goods (spices include opium and dates for instance).

Gold is worth more but rarer. Silver is worth less but more available in large quantities. On a microscale it may make a difference in terms of someone expanding somewhere if there is only silver to be found instead of gold. It also helps with immersion.

How about having different types of precious stuff give you more or less inflation? Diamonds could give more cash and more inflation than gold, while Silver would give less.
A bit like in Imperialism 2.

That opens up a better way to finetune balance.

Is it even still accurate for gold to cause inflation at all? My impression is that the newer the source the less Potosi is blamed for Spains economic failure and that premodern states were simply not able to extract enough silver to cause inflation just through mining. I'm thinking about ancient Athens for example, which relied on the silver from Laurion for much of its revenue.

As I understand it the gold/silver mines of the old world had a negligible effect, but at least the initial plundering of the already mined gold from the Inca's certainly caused inflation. It was lots of new money introduced swiftly into the economy, it'd be hard to avoid inflation.

Maybe silver mines should cause next to no inflation (and generate less revenue), but an actual gold mine with a sizable production would cause some inflation surely.

Also the amount of tons extracted per year might be low for modern standards, but the only thing that matters is which percentage of what was already in the economy is added .

It's worth noting that part of the reason the precious metal mines of the Americas didn't cause as much inflation in Europe as one might expect is that an awful lot of the silver was promptly shipped to China to pay for tea and porcelain.

(Ming's very high inflation, on the other hand, was mostly caused by mishandling of paper fiat currency.)
