Why does Sweden not add the provinces into the HRE? The provinces are catholic, Sweden has cores and is in the HRE

Also, I just annexed Denmark and now I can't release them, they have cores and their primary culture but still can't do it

Did Denmark spend some time as a PU junior?

I ask because the screenshot you're showing me tells me that the primary culture of Denmark isn't Danish any more.

Danish isn't primary culture because I own it, it's taken right after I annexed them, I don't remember them being under any PU at all, and I've been pretty busy in europe so I would notice

What about Sweden? Everything is perfectly aligned for them to add those provinces, other vassals added their cores instantly, just not Sweden for some reason...

I was referring to the fact that the tooltip is quoting a (quite small, thanks to absolutism) time-to-decay for Denmark's core.

Denmark (DAN) is the Primary Tag of Danish culture, so as long as Denmark's primary culture is Danish, Denmark's cores on Danish-culture provinces never decay.

Like @grommile says, it seems like Denmark has been a PU junior under someone who enforced their culture on them. This change sticks even if the PU breaks, and causes shennanigans. Another common place to see this is [insert anyone under Austria's thumb].

Oh I see... Still can't recall any situation where Denmark got PU'd, they had a PU over Landshut though which I liberated before they integrated them, could that cause anything?

Are you sure they are not still active tag, due to a move to a colony? It messed my plan to take over their cn and release them (for reconquest) once, so I now take their directly held colonial provinces first.

Nope, all they had left was four provinces in Denmark area

So anyway, Denmark is solved but what about Sweden not adding the provinces? They are cored and christian, every other subject did but not Sweden

I’ve noticed a similar issue not too long ago where certain European states simply couldn’t get added to the HRE. Sweden was one of those.

Remember that a nation above 200 dev cannot join, that might be the case, but here Sweden already is in the HRE yet refuses to add provinces

Curious, I had a giant Commonwealth not joining the HRE, as in not adding their capital, despite being elected emperor as an outsider. Does not seem like a priority for the AI.
