I live in the United States. Most people here think there is a country called "Scandinavia." Furthermore, only about 1/2 of the populace can find Great Britain on a map. My compatriots are rather....well, I'm sure you can insert your own thoughts here ;)

Don't be so hard on your people, I am sure most Swedes, like me, would not be able to pinpoint more then a handfull of them states of yours, even if it is not the same thing on a political level, it is exactly the same on a geographical.... Not to mention loads of countries on all other continents I could never hope to put in the right place.

Most of the time I am happy to actually put them on the correct continent.. ;)

The thing about these sort of shows is that people seem to forget that before that went to air it got edited and if your entire segment is based around show casing the idiocracy of the United States then of course they will edit out the parts where someone managed to answer the Axis of Evil correct.

Every nation in every part of society has people who do not pay attention to things they view as trivial and given the United States 300+ million people they are just more odvious then lets say, Australias 20 million.

(Man you should go out west from sydney and have a look at the bogans..... Scary stuff out there man.)

Let's not hate on all americans even though most of this here is true and I have friends living there confirming this. But for me the worst part here is they don't know where their country started from - I mean come on it's just a 200 years of history not really much to remember anyway :D

Well anyone can test thatkind of thing. Take a map go to some large city and ask some number of people to point out where Canada is on the map. I would still state that majority would point the wrong place. No offence intended. There is of course people who know where Canada is but to think that those shows are made just to take the stupid people in is not always the case. I for example know one american and I have had several arguments with him of things he really thinks are true but in truth he isn't. For example he claimed to me firmly that Russia is not the largest nation in the world. He kept it going until he saw how big it was on a map and saw the statistics to proof it. He then explained that he thought that Russia was so small as he only saw the globe map and in school their maps only showed the european side and had no glue that Siberia was part of Russia. Its some time funny to talk to him when he keeps on insisting on stuff that is not true and only thing that I can say is that if he really learned that stuff on schools then there really is bad teachers in them.

Hey 28 years isn't enough to gain core on provinces ;)

I seriously think that Swedish historians through times have made many funny obsevations, just so they easier could come to terms with the fact that Scania is the largest province ever conqured from a european country which havn't been returned to its former owner/people..

And most scanians today don't even get taught in their history classes. About the Genacide of Scanians who knew that the real king were in Copenhagen from 1658 to 1814. pawnage at that time were a de facto loan, they didn't just sell parts of their countries they sold maybe a specific province's production for a specific time, but didn't sell a entire province never to be returned..(they pawned of production and management of a province for a surtain period, its is a old-school way for the part that buys the pawn that if all the money isn't repayed at least they got the production from the province that they bought a pawn-letter in.. e.g. The Danish king also pawned of bornholm with northen Europe's largest castle, just because the Hansa had asked.(the Hansa had been unlucky with the grain production and this were a way to save their grain trade, so they bought right for a periode for a surtain amount that still were at a price were they still could make a profit compaired to the distrust and loss they would receive from their trading partners.)

Only problem is that a large portion of Americans don't know where all 50 states are either. ;)

How come the Danes pawns their provinces all the time? Heck, they've even pawned provinces that wasn't really theirs to pawn, namely Orkney and Shetland.

Then again, if you really need money, and you don't have enough cultural tradition to create a MoM...

What about Finland?
It was Swedish longer than Scania were Danish!

To stay on topic, i was always curious why denmark owned a chunk of swedan, now i know :)

Let's get one fact straight. Scania was originally Danish. It has then shifted hands several times. And I agree it's strange why Sweden has cores on it in EU3
